Series DVR recordings

Hi, I have a Synology ds218+, 6gb RAM with an HD Homerun Duo. All viewing is fantastic, receiving UK Freeview with HD channels. The DVR works perfectly with single, programmed recordings.
My problem is with series recordings. I cannot get any series recordings to work. Ive tried recording SD, HD, New and Repeat Airings, New Airings only, Limit to channel, Limit to airing time, etc.
The All Episodes setting when programmed does not show in Schedule but shows in Recording Priority tho’ it reports No upcoming airings. I have a free trial pass for 1 month, I think I would resent paying unless this problem is resolved. I have also noticed that the recording times are 1 hour different to the EPG times.
Am I doing something wrong. At the moment I also have a subscription with TVMosaic server, this works perfectly for series & single recordings. I would prefer the extras Plex offers & find it to be excellent apart from DVR All Episodes not working.

Go to Settings->General and post your version here.

I can only say for my configuration that the Record Series does function. In the Live TV guide I see three red dots to indicate series recording and if set to all it will record all episodes I don’t have on disk.

Which tuner are you using?

Hi,

Thanks for responding. I am using an HDHomerun Duo tuner for UK DTV terrestial television.
My version of server on my Synology ds218+ is: 1.14.15488-cc260c476

Hopefully the screenshot shows how I see the guide when recording “All Episodes” setting.
This is live now but DVR isn’t recording & it should be.

Can you do a screenshot of the Recordings?

Or the status, upper right orange spinning circle.

The DVR isn’t recording so I can’t see a status of recording.

Here is screenshot of activity, my wife is viewing an episode of “Victoria”, that’s the only activity showing.

When the server isn’t being used, can you uncheck verbose on the logging, save and restart PMS. In verbose mode the logs fill very quickly.

I didn’t see the Program even show up in the scheduler so hopefully the less verbose logs will say why it was skipped.

Where do I find verbose on the loggings?

Settings > Troubleshooting

Not in front of my server so I can’t verify.

Okay, I’ll see if I can find the setting. Best let my wife finish her viewing first!!
Thanks.

The verbose setting was unchecked.

I do not see any Verbose log entries in the zip file you submitted. I am not at home so don’t have my normal log tools that I use but am not seeing any entries for the Come Dine With Me show that you posted the screenshot for. I am only seeing entries scheduling Coronation Street. Can you post screenshots of the Record settings for the Come Dine With Me, including both the basic and advanced settings.

Hi,
Do I need to check “Enable Plex Media Server verbose logging”? please see previous reply above from Tiebierius.
I will restart PMS & add another series link recording then submit logs, I will do this tomorrow.

No. I am not sure what logs he was looking at when he asked for Verbose to be turned off. All I see in the logs are the Debug level log entries and your logs covered from Feb 10 to today. I don’t see the show ever being scheduled in the logs so would like to see the Recording setting screenshots if you can provide them .

Hello John,
I’ve enabled verbose logging & reset PMS.
Then I created a new series recording, please see screenshots. I’ve added the log after the recordings were made. Hope this helps you help me.

Sorry to confuse you over the verbose logging, it should only be used if a Plex associate requests it.

You can turn off Verbose logging it is not needed in this situation.

From your latest logs and screenshots I see several reasons the show you were expecting is not recording.

First from the screenshot of the channel I see the following in your recording settings:

Your screenshot was for channel 47, not 110 and the screenshot yesterday was for channel 86. The grid view of the guide was setup following the same logic as the original guide which is to show the recording icon on all series recordings so the user is aware that they have a recording setup, not to indicate that the episode shown will record, that is what the Recording Schedule and Priority lists were used for. I believe there is a Feature Request in the forums to only show the recording icon on episodes that will actually record.

The other issue I do see in the latest logs is in regards to shows that are in the guide data now. The messages I am seeing in the logs for the upcoming airings of the show are:

Which is based on the screenshot above showing you have “New Airings Only” selected.

Hi John,

I think I understand the guide & particular channels now. I’ve programmed a couple of series linked episodes & they look okay. I noticed a long running series with new airings seem to have some days or episodes missing, but I checked the guide for those days & the time slots in the guide report “to be announced”, am I correct in assuming as the guide is updated the schedule will update?

Thanks for your help. Just as an observation commercial removal is a bit hit & miss, do you or any other readers find this as well?

I have another 10 days of free trial but I think I will probably pay for a lifetime pass. The other features of Plex all work very well for me.

Once again, thanks.
