Server cannot be connected to whatsoever, even locally

Server Version#: Windows 10 - 1.25.9.5721-965587f64
Player Version#: N/A

I have been trying to fix this since yesterday. If I ask the server to open up in the web browser it does so, but it says the server libraries are unavailable. It also shows no server settings in the options. So I tried repairing the server with the installer and it didn’t work. So I reinstalled without deleting any other Plex files. And then I’ve tried an entire fresh install and the exact same problem has arised.

I have tried about 20 different fixes given to people on these forums and reddit and I’m still having no joy. It’s the exact same device I’m using, but even my phone and TV are facing the same problem.

Can you post the log files?

Here you go.

I followed that guide before I posted and I gave it another go earlier to make sure I did everything correctly and I definitely did.

Try it again. This time using an “incognito”/“private” web browser window.
All web browser add-ins disabled.
All VPN software disabled.
All 3rd party firewall software and “privacy guard”-type of software disabled.
Any internet filter appliances like Pi-Hole disabled.

I’ve been having the exact same issue. I hoped the latest PMS version would fix it, and it seemed at first that it did, but then quickly I received the “can’t connect to server” message. I’ve used Plex for many years but I’m tired of this. I’ve got the latest version of WIN10, the latest PMS version, and have a database of movies and music that is probably much smaller than most.

Unfortunately that hasn’t worked either.

Are you trying this directly on the server machine? Or is the web browser running on a different machine?
Is the hosts file clean on both server and browser machine?

I’ve been trying this on the server machine. I have just tried to follow the instructions on another device and it says the site can’t be reached. It’s on the same local network as the server machine.

What address are you typing into your web browser?

127.0.0.1:32400

That address only works if the web browser is opened on the very same machine where the plex server is installed.
If you open the web browser on a different machine on the same local network, you need to use the local IP address of the server machine.

Okay I have done that but there is no server showing. I can see the other Plex content but my server isn’t showing in either the homepage or the settings.

Is the web browser running on the same machine as the server?

Yeah, I tried it on both machines and it cannot see the server on either machine. I have just noticed however there has been an update to PMS and it’s telling me to install it manually. I can try doing another fresh installation of PMS when I’ve finished work.

Edit: A fresh installation with the latest update didn’t solve the issue, but it did install correctly.

Sorry for asking again: is the server running on one of these two computers?
Or is it on a third device, like a NAS or a VPS?

Yeah, the server is running on one of the two computers.

Could you do the following:
(on the server machine)

  1. “Quit Plex” using the task tray icon.
  2. Save the following into a text file using notepad.exe
Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.\Plex Media Server]
"logDebug"=dword:00000001
"LogVerbose"=dword:00000000
  1. rename the text file and change the file name extension to .reg
  2. double-click the .reg file, confirm that you want to make the changes in the registry
  3. start the server again, using the Start menu
  4. wait 5 minutes
  5. close the server again
  6. go to the plex data folder and zip up the whole folder Logs
  7. drag this zip file into your next posting here in this thread
