Can this work if I have a Mac instead of Windows?
Thank you @badelie! I wish I found this before I totally rebuilt my PMS only to find the issue still persist. All good after following your downgrade instructions!
I did it with my Mac. You just need the ADB tool for Mac. https://dl.google.com/android/repository/platform-tools-latest-darwin.zip
Thank you @badelie!
I successfully rolled it back via ADB but how do I prevent it from updating to a newer PMS automatically?
Just disable automatic app updates in Google Play Store
In the push command, the local path is a whole directory, rather than a specific file. I’m not sure if that makes a difference, but maybe add the actual file name so only that file is pushed.
@badelie Thank you for trying to help! I did a full reset of the Shield in the end and still couldn’t get the downgrade to go through but it seems to be stable for now, I have absolutely no idea why!
Backup server created on the PC and research into alternative hosts is in progress! We’ve put up with bad updates on the Shield for so long, eventually it’s time to call it a day and use something else!
Hmm, be back @1.40.4.8679 but now I can’t set a new library. It hanging on language selection. Likewise, no changes to the media library are possible.
Maybe I should try 1.41.0.9018 apk!?
Is this limited to Nvidia Shield or are other platforms having the same (ie. Windows, Linux)?
lmao ofc, I don’t know why I was blanking on this. Thank you so much
Incredible that a such blatant bug has not yet been aknowledge by the Plex Team.
Thx for the downgrading solution, I’ll try it and report back later.
Did you start with a fresh PMS install from the Play Store, start the server for the initial setup, then downgraded as above?

edit: pms updated to lastest while disabling (and looking how to) auto update.
I’ll give another go.
Still the issue with 1.41.3.9232 released today on Beta channel
@chris_decker08 can you help us or a member of Plex team?
I’m currently working on a MASSSIVE update to the transcoder which i hope will help with this. Unfortunately it will take a while
i’ll try to pop back in when i have something to test.
Now I be going to 1.41.0.9018
This is the last working Plex Version for me.
The music libraries are now working again. The old agents from version 1.40.4.8679 no longer work. At least not in music libraries.
So I got ADB to run on MAC terminal and I turned on Network debugging via the developer options on the shield. The problem I am having is trying to connect to the Shield I am inputting the ADB connect line but it tells me that IP does not exist… clearly I must be doing something wrong as I am using the IP listed below network debugging. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
I would be interested to hear how transcoding could potentially be causing my Plex server to randomly disconnect and re-connect randomly throughout the day. This issue is happening when my server is not even playing anything. Do you need any of us to provide logs or anything for this situation?
Same issue here, after the last update: server unreachable, how can a transcoding update fix a connection to the server issue. Its been stable for years prior to the last update basically.
You’re a life saver! I’ve been googling how to downgrade PMS on the Shield for ages and your post is the most complete and helpful, thanks a million!
