Has anybody from Plex responded to this?
It is starting to get beyond a joke, I regularly have to go into settings in the Plex player app on shield and stop/start the server, it works for a while ( minutes, hours, maybe couple of days) then randomly disappears.
I have it only seems to have started about December time.
What I can tell you is that they removed all of the logs from this thread, so hopefully, they also looked at them and understand what is going on.
It would be very good if they wrote at least something comforting here. No one from Plex is responding to us, and I see that almost everyone here is a paid customer.
Hey I am having a server issue also. It cant find my server. Had a sweet run with Plex for the last year and all of sudden it wont pick up my server. Have tried uninstalling the program, updating my server and reinstalling the app also. Ready to throw my laptop out the window. Totally unstable Plex… will work some days and then not others.
I am not a computer person…have no idea what I am doing. HELPPPP
Added a Dolby Vision movie last night and scanned it into the library.
Opened Plex app on Shield (after installing new shield update and Plex app beta update).
Started Movie, movie took ages to load, then played in HDR10.
Stopped movie, exited to main menu, tried to play movie again, spinning circle- server disappeared!!! Confirmed by trying to open web app page from local network.
Go into settings on Plex app, stop server then start server, files reappear.
Play movie again, movie plays in Dolby Vision (hurray) but stops after about 20 mins, server disappeared FFS.
Does anybody have any experience of Emby? Is it more stable than Plex, I can’t go on like this it’s so frustrating,
The issue on my side got resolved. Plex doesn’t crash anymore while connecting to it via android clients. There were no changes in hardware, no configuration changes, no updates (maybe android client got an update that fixed it?). No change in our behavior in using Plex. It’s working fine now for 4 days. Before it was crashing every night when we launched an android app on a tablet - it didn’t crash if we used the local plex web version.
I’m a senior software engineer and cannot understand what changed.
C’mon Plex this is a joke, I also have a remote server on a shield at my other address and I have to keep ringing someone up to ask them to turn the shield off at the wall to reboot it.
Last night I was watching a movie from this server, stopped the movie, went upstairs to watch the remainder of it in bed and the server had gone offline within a space of a few minutes…
It’s ■■■■, you could at least acknowledge you are looking into it?
Can you explain please, does this definitely work?
I am not deleting a library that contains thousands of items without some sort of official response.
Thank you.
Well unfortunately shield plex media server updates lag horribly behind other releases. Not sure why though. There is no new release even if you’re a plex pass user.
I think the android client update solved the issue with the server.
