Server not accessible since last update

Same here. I can’t access my Plex server via App.Plex.tv or Plex dash on iOS or the normal Plex iOS App.

I can watch everything on the same shield as the Server and even the shield tv in my bedroom with the official Plex App though.

Plex Dash only Shows „???“ as the name of my Server.

Has anybody from Plex responded to this?
It is starting to get beyond a joke, I regularly have to go into settings in the Plex player app on shield and stop/start the server, it works for a while ( minutes, hours, maybe couple of days) then randomly disappears.
I have it only seems to have started about December time.

How can we reach out to Plex employees directly? Looks like every shield owner out there has a problem at this moment…

What I can tell you is that they removed all of the logs from this thread, so hopefully, they also looked at them and understand what is going on.
It would be very good if they wrote at least something comforting here. No one from Plex is responding to us, and I see that almost everyone here is a paid customer.

Hey I am having a server issue also. It cant find my server. Had a sweet run with Plex for the last year and all of sudden it wont pick up my server. Have tried uninstalling the program, updating my server and reinstalling the app also. Ready to throw my laptop out the window. Totally unstable Plex… will work some days and then not others.
I am not a computer person…have no idea what I am doing. HELPPPP

My viewing experience last night:

Added a Dolby Vision movie last night and scanned it into the library.

Opened Plex app on Shield (after installing new shield update and Plex app beta update).

Started Movie, movie took ages to load, then played in HDR10.

Stopped movie, exited to main menu, tried to play movie again, spinning circle- server disappeared!!! Confirmed by trying to open web app page from local network.

Go into settings on Plex app, stop server then start server, files reappear.

Play movie again, movie plays in Dolby Vision (hurray) but stops after about 20 mins, server disappeared FFS.

Does anybody have any experience of Emby? Is it more stable than Plex, I can’t go on like this it’s so frustrating,

I have the problem randomly happening every day but comes back on after many refreshes. Version 1.21.1.3876 and web version Version 4.47.3

I can’t start my server at all. I keeps going back to stopped when trying.

So, what do we do about that? Is there any way to @reply to Plex employees here?

The issue on my side got resolved. Plex doesn’t crash anymore while connecting to it via android clients. There were no changes in hardware, no configuration changes, no updates (maybe android client got an update that fixed it?). No change in our behavior in using Plex. It’s working fine now for 4 days. Before it was crashing every night when we launched an android app on a tablet - it didn’t crash if we used the local plex web version.
I’m a senior software engineer and cannot understand what changed.

Yes, you’re totally right, it work normally, but if you try to access to the server with the android app, the server crash.

C’mon Plex this is a joke, I also have a remote server on a shield at my other address and I have to keep ringing someone up to ask them to turn the shield off at the wall to reboot it.
Last night I was watching a movie from this server, stopped the movie, went upstairs to watch the remainder of it in bed and the server had gone offline within a space of a few minutes…
It’s ■■■■, you could at least acknowledge you are looking into it?

Now it work.

You need to delete your server and delete plex player + plex server on your shield.

Reinstall plex player and plex server.

When you are creating your new server, uncheck “plex will automatically create new librairie” (i am pretty sure that this cause a bug).

Can you explain please, does this definitely work?
I am not deleting a library that contains thousands of items without some sort of official response.
Thank you.

Yes, I have no longer any problem.
I don’t know why it now work.

EDIT: I see that there is a new update of plex, so maybe it would work.

New update? I’m still on 1.21.3830… what version do you have now?

I have the same version, but you have the plex pass, so you can install this: Plex for Android and this: Plex Media Server

No ?

I am on the same version that you have. Like @ davrog10 said, the issues is resolved, but they is no update.

Well unfortunately shield plex media server updates lag horribly behind other releases. Not sure why though. There is no new release even if you’re a plex pass user.

I think the android client update solved the issue with the server.

I am still having this issue… I hope plex will solve soon - Server is a NVIDIA Shield, so no escaping Android…
