Shield experience 9 upgrade, server dissapeared

Latest Plex Media Server APK - hotfix not currently installed although waiting for it to be activated for my device. Plex Media Server gets stuck in scanning one particular library overnight which stops any access to any drives and remote playback also stops. Only a reboot solves the issue.

PMS is on adopted storage.

I made the mistake to update shield to 9.0.0.
My Plex metadata is on an external drive as well as the others in this thread.

Cannot access my library, no options to start/stop PMS under settings.

I’m not trying to side load the apk, as it seems the issues still occur to other people (and my disk is formatted as exFAT).

I hope a proper fix will come soon, and I curse myself for updating the shield - even though a bug like this should have popped up during QA.

Hello, NVidia 9.0+ hotfix installed and followed your step to restore the previous server. It doesn’t work for me.

On Plex setting, by uninstall & reinstall, now I see Plex media server button (v1.25.3.5385) but don’t see storage option button next to it.

After installing the Nvidia hot fix I got my PMS and Plex mostly working but the Shield is incredibly unstable and I’m having problems on every app more or less. Endless reboots every day. I use adopted storage and several drives with hubs.

I would probably surmise that PMS fails overnight if you’ve got any troubleshooting scheduling.

I use Apple TV as a client and that’s showing some very strange behaviour with sound cutting out and missing audio information. I think I’m seeing the evidence of the HW transcoding issue too.

Kodi gets stuck trying to update from sources on external drives and crashes constantly.

I’m hoping obviously that some updates fix everything. In the meantime what would really help is if I could reliably transfer files from the Windows network share to the drives but as soon as I’ve transferred a file it tends to break and say I don’t have permission to access them. Sometimes that also makes PMS fall over and other times not.

I can also confirm that some of my drives have had all the system files copied to them while others haven’t for some reason.

Somewhat torn between wanting to download updates the second they come in and waiting because it could wreck what little I have left of the Shield (which was hitherto a dreamboat and result of so much hard work).

Regardless tho, we need to show the devs some love I think. Clearly we need them now and I’d rather they were working well and happy than pi$$ed off.

That is a new issue. Please start a new thread with details and logs.

If you uninstalled and reinstalled, then you have a new server. You need to go through the first run setup again. You won’t see the option move the data until after PMS is setup.

We are looking into the issue with PMS shutting off on it’s own.

Yes I went through the first run setup.
However, it seems like it doesn’t read my external 2TB SSD so I cannot get my library back.

Do you see the drive from the Shield settings? The Plex app should see whatever the OS sees.

Yes it shows on Shield setting but not on Plex setting.

Hello. Nothing work fine. I have run nvidia hotfix and the apk file, but plex doesn`t work. My SSD is not visible. NVIDIA Shield identify the SSD, Plex not.

It doesn’t show External Storage.

In my case: It shows, but no files were found.

The second choice, Internal (user accessible storage location) is external storage if you formatted as Adopted Storage. I was able to move my database there with no issues.

I have the same issue – Plex gets stuck scanning all my content. Only a hard reset of the shield fixes the issue.

hmmm…I chose the second choice Internal (user accessible storage location) but still not reading my external SSD.

This is ridiculous now. If I have to reboot one more time, I swear I’ll through it through the bloody window.:frowning:

Don’t make promises you won’t keep. You know it’s going to keep happening at least a bit longer.

Maybe a bit off topic: but can we rollback the shield 9.0.0 update?

It is actually remarkable that there are sooo many issues simply because of an Android update which I am sure you guys from PLEX have been knowing for months and you surely tested a lot.

And even after 1 week there is no fix available. Just some hotfixes via sideload which do not appear to be working. Is there any estimation whatsoever on anything?

Do.you have the hotfix and latest PMS installed and PMS located on adopted storage?

I’ve now installed the hotfix and will see if that helps anything
