I also set mines usb conf to max performance
What about network and Nas Storage ?
I have installed hotfix, then the plex APK.
Server still down.
My storage is on 2 Nas (1 synology and 1 Qnap). Storage are up and i can manage or play movie with Other app, but not in plex.
Hope you’ll find a patch
Is there any chance that beta versions of Plex Server resolve the issues?
No. This fix has not made it to Google Play.
This fix is for USB drives as I read… What about network drives?
Unfortunately it did.
Accessing media on Network drives is not an issue we’ve identified. This should be working without the hotfix or the PMS apk update. I would remount the drives just incase something with the firmware update affected them.
Thanks for the quick reply. PMS is connected to network drive and the server is unaccessible.within nvidia shield or from computer. Is this different issue?
Same. I had a cheap 4 core Intel J4125/8GB mini PC I wasn’t really using already kicking around, this was the push for me to just put linux on the thing and start over. It seems so far just as capable as the Shield was even at transcoding (well especially now that transcoding has been completely broken on Shield as well even while the server would still start), probably better than it in other ways and I can actually maintain it properly myself without being at the mercy of Plex poor history of PMS updates on the Shield.
The other thing I hated was that they kept the cache on the internal storage of the Shield even when you used the option to move plex data to external, and they said it was basically not something they were going to ever do anything about. This will 100% wear out the flash on the Shield eventually basically bricking the device.
I still fully expect the cycle of PMS updates breaking things but at least I have more control over it now…
Yes. The location of your media should not matter. The current issue we are discussing in this thread is only if your Plex data folder is on a usb drive.
So please, where to go to discuss about Plex server stop working with NAS Storage since the update ?
Ok, you are right, same issue for me, data is stored at usb drive… But since is a version issue, isn’t possible to backup server data and uninstall/reinstall previous version of PMS and solve the issue that way?
Confirmed set as always on.
Still seeing PMS shutting down
This is worrying if you can’t replicate the issue
Is that really true?
I thought the issue(s) of Plex Media Server not working related to Android 11 and a mistake with the supported API level in one of the latest PMS updates?
So even after a factory reset and a fresh installation of Plex / PMS, I cannot even setup a new Plex Server - it is simply crashing during setup. And for people who updated to Shield experience 9 with an existing installation - the server does not work anymore and you also cannot access the server setting through the web.
I thought that was the original error we have been discussing here?
Curious… are you experiencing this even after installing the HotFix and sideloading the PMS file mentioned earlier in this thread by MovieFan.Plex?
Why are we finding out about stuff like this Shield TV will get Android 11 bug fixes soon - 9to5Google not in here?
It would be really good to get an update from Plex here
I got everything set up and with the combination of the update of the Plex server and the update of the Nvidia Shield everything went wrong. It was funny because the problem for me appeared when the electricity of my house was shut down for a minute and after recovering the service, it triggered the autoupdates…
Now, I am using both the server and the Plex app on the beta and installed on my Nvidia Shield with experience 9. I tried multiple times but was no way to recover the last server because I have it on a usb stick and Plex media server isn’t able to detect external storage.
So, I decided to scan all the media again with the server storage on internal, this time without any miniatures or anything it could have any impact on the Nvidia Shield storage. It worked, it is a workaround but everything is working. I tried also transcoding of x264 1080p and it is working correctly.
My set up is:
The Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019
+16TB Toshiba server drive
+256GB Samsung ultra fast (350MB/s+ read speeds) USB drive
I decided to store the Server data on the USB because the case of my hard drive has an auto sleep feature and sometimes it would not boot up the server or it would crash because there was nothing to locate the server because the hard drive was shut down.
When I did this was perfect: silent all the time until I accessed to a movie or a tv show. And no problem when you try to connect because the usb drive is always on and runs the server constantly.
For me is the perfect setup.
Also I noticed a lot of freezes with the interface when navigating through settings with the Nvidia update.
I am disappointed with this type of problems. I would love that this piece of software and hardware could work perfectly under all circumstances. Because it really is a nice setup with low energy consumption and powerful. I hope the developers (both) could find the final solution soon.
And for sure, no more auto updates
Was able to capture it again between 5:30-5:45 EST.

No change, just had it go down again on the other port. Both USB ports are set to power always on, and both plex and pms apps are set to allow files permissions.
Drive is a 18TB WD Easystore, no issues before updating to android 11.
Media is on Synology DS218J. shield PMS lost connection with the DS 3 days ago after doing the upgrade. But this fix above reconnected it. But by now 3 days later I have to ‘scan Library Files’ to populate the menus.
