Shield experience 9 upgrade, server dissapeared

Had to unplug the Shield because it was locked up. Plugged back in, … Can’t access the PMS from the PC. Server is “Unavailable”.

Whomever is testing this stuff needs to expand their test cases…

After a factory reset on the shield and a library transplant I was back in action yesterday evening.

Checking this morning it looks like the server is already offline.

Hotfix 2, using that version’s PMS.

Same for me.

My PMS is running for 7 days without any problems.
I made a factory reset and installed the normal update.
Again a factory reset , no hotfixes.
Installed the PMS from the store.
USB stick as internal storrage and all my
content is on a Synology.
Hope, it will run any longer.

Greetings, osw2610

no problems when scanning library also if you added something?

Really no problems.
During the last 7 days I added multiple films and episodes.
At this time, everythig works perfect.

Yeah, mine crashes every time I go to scan library files. It’s ok for a while and stops in the middle of it. Seriously frustrating POS.

Watching this thread with interest and hopefully a fix is found soon.

I decided to delete PMS and install it again, but it won’t get past the initial setup.

I really don’t want to factory reset the Shield just yet.

I think I’ll hold off updating until this is properly resolved, luckily saw this thread before I ran any updates.

Same. I have to reboot the nvidia shield server daily to regain Plex access after applying hotfix and adb apk.

Same thing happened to me. I just rebooted and then waited inside the Plex app for like 10 minutes, then it worked again without me doing anything.

Yup.

Seems like something is still up when Plex runs commands at night (scan / cleanup) and the attached storage traffic.

This morning PMS was not running, but the shield hadn’t locked up. Reboot, and it all works again.

Again PMS is down this morning, obviously same issue as everyone else and no fix for it.

Turning off the Shield is not a workaround - anytime you disconnect the Shield it can and eventually will end up in a viscous cycle where database corrupts and you’ll have to restore or worse it will blow out the size of your db/metadata/etc due to the corruptions.

Yeah, that’s fair. However, if you haven’t updated to Android 11 (Experience 9) HW transcoding should not be broken. This was a result of something changing with Android 11. Please start a new post with details and logs.

Kodi does not save it’s data to the usb drive so they wouldn’t be affected by this. If you have your Plex data folder on the internal storage, you also wouldn’t have this issue.

My Nvidia Shield 2017 works perfectly since nvidia has released the hotfix 2.0.

I don’t installing the plex apk.

Looks like your server stopped responding around 10:02 pm the night before. It shows it had finished scanning some files, then the logs just stop. Unfortunately, there isn’t anything more to identify why it stopped.

Hello,

Since last update 9.0, I noticed I couldn’t play movies in DTS-HD anymore . I get this message : “An error occurred while attempting to play this video. Please check your connection and try again”
Hotfix2 + new plex server version didn’t change anything.
However, the same movies can be read with VLC media player (in DTS by the way).

If I disable DTS in shield settings, I can play the movie but the audio is no more in DTS…

Managed to downgrade Shield to 8.2.3 and PMS to 1.24.

Everything works.

Disabled every kind of update possible, I thought this nightmare would never end, good luck to all of you.

I don’t think I am the only one.

Let me know if I can be of any assistance in getting to the bottom of this.

An idea is with the new power management, perhaps if the Shield is in standby mode, the USB drive is going into sleep mode after a certain time…

No your not, but we are having trouble identifying the cause. I’m personally not able to reproduce the problem.

That’s a possibility we looked into. I asked users to check that setting and it was already set to “always” on. Might be some other power setting, but we haven’t figured out which one.
