Shield experience 9 upgrade, server dissapeared

I think it’s the same version posted here to sideload

I am not sure if this helps solve this issue because I didn’t have a shield but it appears that Nvidia just released a hot fix which apparently solves the Plex disappearing act. I apologize if this was already mentioned and I missed it

Judging by their link in that article they are referring to hotfix 2 from some time back.

Current state of affairs for me:

External USB storage formatted as NTFS.
PMS crashes overnight, every night and typically at some stage during the day too even with no activity. It’s also struggled to scan my music library, needing 3-4 tries with a restart of the shield each time to get through it all.

Didn’t have any issues prior to the updates.

How do I permanently disable the notification to update to Shield Experience 9? I keep dismissing the message, and it keeps coming back. One of these days I’ll get sloppy and accidentally install it.

My PC keeps losing connection with the drives on nvidia shield, is that something someone is also experiencing? I use my PC for sonarr and radarr for adding media

I am definitely also experiencing this, however I havent pinned down the exact cause, but I will have the shield mounted as a drive or connected directly with \ipaddress\internal and randomly at some point I will lose access to the shield and I will have to physically go to my shield, turn off network sharing and turn it back on, then I am able to work with the shield over the network normally again.
I am on shield expereince hotfix 2.
I dont think that plex can do anything about this though, as its a shield issue.
Should probobly report this on the Nvidia Shield TV forums.

cheers buddy, I’m doing the same thing as a work around but it lasts a couple of hours tops before disconnecting, I’m gonna stay hopeful and pray for a fix soon. Will let you know if I find any other solution

There is a 3rd Hotfix which is due out Friday and one of the Hotfixs comments are:

Resolves Plex file access issues which requires users to set up Plex server again after OTA upgrade

Let’s hope setting up the server isn’t much of an issue and how many settings are retained.

Dont do it… i ve done it and already regret it… updated pms and the client and now login in the client allways say that cannot change user… check internet connection …why did i do it???

#%@^%!!!@

Edit- after 3 restarts in the shield didnt solve… but running ram cleaner to close all runnings apps… plex app now normalized…

Anyone else received hotfix 3 already? Experiences?

Go to Settings → Apps → See all Apps → Show System Apps, then scroll down to “System Upgrade” (towards the bottom) and click on it. In that menu, turn off notifications.

If you want to delete the download (you can tell if it’s there if the data size is more that 10MB), delete the data. If you do this, you’ll need to go out of the System Upgrade App menu, go right back in, and turn off notifications again (deleting the data wipes those preferences too).

You can turn off automatic download too. Go to Settings → Device Preferences → About → System Upgrade. From there, click on “Check for upgrade”, and you can turn off auto-download.

Nope, not there for me on Shield 2017.

The post indicates still to deploy. May take 24-48 hours.

Hopefully that fixes the overnight freezing going on.

Work up this morning and all apps and adopted storage was not working again. Reboot, and fixed.

One thing we’ve learned is that immediately applying any update is sure to result in a great experience. Certainly we should be jumping all over everything either Shield or Plex puts out. You don’t even have to think about it dude.

Seriously though, I appreciate those willing to put in the effort to test these things out, which ultimately benefits the rest of the Shield/Plex community.

Hopefully this resolves ALL the issues of being able to write to USB drives attached to the Shield

Just had to share this,

my wife asked me to put on Dance Monkey as the Shield Critical Storage notification is flashing up in the background. I said to her “its not there, I can only add a bit of the music library because Shield can’t read any external drives atm”

Her reply was “this Plex shiit is embarrassing” and I thought “yeah she is more right than she realises.”

The third hotfix is out. Anyone installed and can report anything back?

Very vague, no mention of external USB! I’ve spent a lot of time setting up the library again so would appreciate if someone with external usb formatted as NTFS could setup plex from from scratch and confirm if usb is disconnecting over a day or so.
