When I started with nvidia shield the wired connection was used. PMS was installed and good worked. Then I connected to wifi 5 ghz and PMS could not start. I do not why but is it fact. But in total internet wifi 5 ghz with shield worked.
waiting the 4th hotfix
6 for PMS and 4 for NVIDIA ! lol
sorry but boring and great joke !!!
so if shield with
- wifi 2.4 or wired - plex server accessible IPadressShield:32000/web and accessible in plex account
- wifi 5 - plex server not accessible IPadressShield:32000/web and not accessible in plex account
In both cases you can play any media on TV
If possible please check these items
I confirm this fact. After serge35 told me I should try wifi 2.4 Ghz I switched the network and under wifi 2.4 Ghz my Shield is ruinnig again
I switched back to 5 Ghz and Shield work but after some minutes connection lost. New connection with wifi 2.4 Ghz and Shield works fine.
OK, after switching to 2.4 Ghz I had to setup my Plex new. All my old setting gone. But now all is runnig ^^ But, why donst work wifi 5 Ghz???
Installed hotfix #3 and had to start PMS manually from system apps for the first time. PMS worked for a few minutes and since it crashed, it is not starting again (not even after rebooting shield). Upon opening Plex client there is nothing in the row called PLEX MEDIA SERVER. When trying to start PMS manually again, it just tells me to use config in Android app and not starting anymore.
- Wired (ethernet) connection.
- PMS was relocated into adopted storage (SD card) long ago. Hotfix #3 fixed SD card dismounting, card stays connected and other apps located on SD card work without any issue. I have a feeling PMS is expecting internal storage while everything is inside adopted storage…
- Media are stored on NAS.
- I’ve set missing permissions prior to hotfix #3.
Why did you install PMS to SD card?
@serge35: Because it’s 2015 version (16GB) that has SD card slot and with a good one it works pretty fast and without an issue of running out of internal space. Better question would be why the hell I upgraded Shield while everything worked. I’m well aware of “not to update anything while it works”…
You guys should probably stop reporting things are “working now” until you’ve had PMS running a few days, scanning library files, preforming tasks, etc. The thread is getting congested with unhelpful information.
There’s a ton of posts here where users say their system is working, only for that post to be edited or a followup posted later saying Plex was crashed.
Just use it a bit before announcing success. MOST of our setups work initially with any combination of these last updates. …then fail shortly after.
On my side here is what is working since 2-3days.
Hotfix2
PlexServer 5410.
Plex data on removable SD card (not adopted, really removable)
Plex library on NAS
Ethernet connected
Auto-scan/maintance from 2AM to 5AM
some parameters in dev options
- never sleep while power plugged in
- force authorize external access
I’m not intensively looking at its status (so maybe early morning might not be up) but surely by lunch and still in evening it’s up.
I’ll look early morning tomorrow to check back.
Same with - together with Plex server being unpredicably gone before as well I sold my Shield for 15o Euro and bought a refurbihed mini PC with windows 10. I tell you contrast in experience is significant. Should have done that in the first place
Hi,
Installed hotfix #3 on my Shield Pro 2019
PMS v 1.25.3.5448
In PMS I have changed storage to my external USB disk connected to the Shield but I can not see anything in /Android/data/ folder when I check via my network share (smb)
If I stop PMS and eject USB drive and connect it to my MacBook Pro I can see all the com.xxx folders including the com.plexmediaserver folder and can copy my backup of the “Plex Media Server” folder.
When connected back to the Shield and start PMS again I can see my libraries restored after some time. I have about 8GB of backup size.
But the issue is I need the external USB drive and specifically the com.plexmediaserver folder with the “Plex Media Server” folder to be accessible through the SMB network share so my backup script will continue to work again.
Hope this will be fixed soon!
Did anyone tried hotfix#3+ PMS 5468?
Can anyone provide me the link for 5468?
Couldn’t find it anywhere.
My device is Nvidia but not listed on platform list on PMS downloda page.
Hotfix #3 on my Shield 2017
PMS v 1.25.3.5448
Still having to unplug the Shield at least once a day due to it locking up & being completely unresponsive.
Each time it takes around 15 minutes for the USB SSD to reconnect & PMS to start running again.
Coming up to a month soon & still no reliable fix.
About time Plex offered their Plex Pass for free until they are able to get their act together surely?
Beyond a joke.
Early morning, discovering that Plex is up but SMB lost its connection (not so unusual…)
Refreshing SMB and will see how it stays or crashes again.
Since the upgrade, Plex has been unusable.
There is no option to start/stop the PMS.
Signing out of PLEX and rebooting the Shield, then signing in again SOMETIMES allows Plex to start and I can once again watch shows. But give it a few hours and everything switches off again and I get the dreaded ‘you are not connected to the internet’ message.
Amen !
Almost 1 month and it still doesn’t work.
No more updates from the team?
Just gonna leave it like that?
