it works?

@sixones @anon18523487 anything show up on the logs?

Mine worked ok after the first hotfix then went wrong again after the third one

Had to reinstall PMS to fix it. What a mess

I purchased a Nvidia Shield Pro & Plex lifetime pass this month hoping to setup a Plex media server for my family. However like many here I haven’t been able to get it up and running despite many hours of factory resets, patches & re-installs.

The most recent patch hotfix no.3 finally allowed me to setup a Plex media server, but after trying to add media from an external HDD (Seagate Expansion 5TB, 2TB media, setup as per Plex instructions; 3TB empty), Plex froze in the process of compiling the library (looking for metadata) and the Plex media server hasn’t restarted since or been accessible via PC despite reboots.

The options to start-stop, the server & storage locations are missing from within the Plex app on the Shield and the server is inaccessible from a PC.

I bought the Nvidia shield for use as a Plex server, but its just been a really frustrating experience so far. I won’t be able to return the Shield because it is not faulty (at least not in a hardware sense), it just doesn’t work for the only purpose I had purchased it for which was for use with Plex.

I hope the Plex developers and Nvidia can figure this out. It sounds like this use to be a good experience for people in the past.

I realise you would probably rather the Shield/Plex just worked as advertised but since that is not so, I’d check the laws in your specific district/country as you should be able to get a full refund on both the Shield and the Plex Pass as the advertised features do not function as expected thus are not fit for purpose.

In Australia for example the laws are:

the item must “be fit for the purpose the business told you it would be fit for and for any purpose that you made known to the business before purchasing”

Thanks for the information triks_melb.

I’ve invested a lot of time at this stage, so I’m kind of hoping the Plex developers will look into resolving this issue for their users. Personally, I would like an easy way to revert to the last known working combination of Nvidia android OS and the Plex app. I don’t now how feasible that is but it would be a good stopgap measure.

I installed the 3rd hotfix. Was able to configure my libraries and use external usb storage for the local data.

However, after I woke up the next morning–the server was unavailable again :frowning:

Should I install another apk? or just wait for another hotfix? :frowning:

What is the number of the Plex server you installed?

After applying Hotfix #3, the logs show Plex Media Server v1.25.3.5448-f11334058

try this

Dear users of Nvidia Shield Pro 2019 (HotFix 3) !!!
Please check the following problem: the same file may play or may not play (eternal buffering).
With eternal buffering, the console does not register that the file is open
Plex Media Server 5410

Will this solve the problems on Nvidia Shield?

Since hotfix 2: All works fine again.

I do not install the hotfix 3, because the risk to lose my server is to high.

Important remark for users shield:
if you have wifi connection 5 ghz with your device try to reconnect to wifi 2.4 or wired.
And after check your Plex server functionality

if the shield goes to sleep nothing works anymore …
the DNLA does not work either…
great fix 3 !

This topic will close 3 months after the last reply… : thats not going to happen lol

it’s not a solution … I don’t see why switching to 2.4 it worked 5.0 before …

5th patch???
