Same issues here. Restored Shield and it’s stuck on the initial setup screen for PMS.
Any way you could share the link you found to show you how to perform the ADB?
Yep, Plex data folder moved to a usb connected SSD and encountering this issue
Same here, installed the hotfix and Plex is still broken.
Fantastic, maybe when the Plex devs are fixing this they’ll be forced to fix the issues with their last release that completely broke the ability to transcode with the Shield.
The 9.01 hotfix update showed up on my Shield but didn’t resolve the problem.
I have an external usb drive attached to it as removable storage.
The always allow storage access permissions are set.
Same as everyone else, plex on external usb which was working before upgrade and not after.
Tried adding storage permissions and several reboots and no luck
Stupidly updated the Shield. Of course Plex server is completely dead. Plex server isn’t working properly more often than it is on this thing and I’m sick of it. Prior to this, it still worked but the latest version of the server they broke hardware transcoding.
Yes, I had my Plex data set to an external USB SSD. I am expecting my library to have been destroyed by now if this ever gets resolved.
Currently installing Plex server on Windows just so I can have something that actually works… which I have avoided for the longest time because even after ALL THESE YEARS they seem to still require you be logged into the desktop for it to work and don’t have the option to run it as a service which is also ridiculous. Looking at workarounds for this but they all seem to be in a bad state too.
so yes USB external drive on plex media server, upgrade plex server, then i got a norification that my sheild had an upgrade, along with google play services, and another android service, all of these were upgraded. When i started Plex, is was unable to locate my media. So i logged out and back in. When i logged back in i had to reconnect my device(it seen it as a new plex instance) At this point i figured best to reinstall, so pulled all the servers from my plex account, and resinstalled, now I cant even get plex media server to start up
2019 Nvidia Pro (latest version of plex and Sheld OS) I have enable the plex media server to allow all the time on storage, and even tried to get the app to install without any external drive connected to my plex.
All just keeps spinning and saying building database even after an hour.
My issue seems very related to all of the items above, but with my own flavor of trying to fix it issues possibly mixed in.
Same issue here, libraries are on USB storage. Plex media server swim lane empty on the settings screen. Server can’t start.
I’m also seeing a ‘no internet connection’ error within Plex on startup.
It’s definitely connected to the internet via ethernet, and there’s no issue accessing other services (eg. streaming).
Same issue. Tried the experimental fix, set the storage permissions for both Plex and Plex Media Server to the most permissive, cleared the cache of both Plex and Plex Media Server, rebooted a bunch of times, no avail.
Media library is stored on 8 TB external drive set up as removable.
yep same issue, same attempted solutions as CobraA1 but not working.
Tried the 9.0+ Hotfix, nothing changed so PMS still not working at all. I don’t know what possessed me to install a new experience version on day 1 of release. Boy, am I sorry. Now the two reasons I bought the Shield Pro (Atmos on Tidal and PMS) are both broken.
So not sure this will solve everyone’s issues, as my media library is attached over the network and not via USB. I managed to get it working again by factory resetting my Shield, installing the updated APK that was posted above and set everything up again. Not ideal, but this has worked for me
Same problems for me with library on external ssd after shield experience 9 update along with update for the remote. Only recently paid for a life time subscription, hopefully it doesn’t mean a lifetime of problems.
How soon do you guys expect a fix to come? (I am using USB storage).
Same here…wiped the Shield and gave permissions…still no external storage to choose…this is so sad
Found this from an NVIDIA staff member on their forums:
“We’ve been in contact with Plex. They are working on a fix which they hope to deploy in the next few hours on their Beta channel. They are also working to get it deployed to the public playstore as soon as possible.”
Me too. What a disaster.
USB used as extended internal storage. On reboot kept saying safely ejected so decided to just factory reset.
PMS now stuck on setting up for first time, permissions set to allow on server (keeps reverting to not allowed on client).
Sigh.
Factory reset on Shield again and managed this time to connect to Synology NAS.
So now the biggest issue is Plex Media Server can not see external USB drive even though its visible from Settings > Storage > Samsung USB
