Shield experience 9 upgrade, server dissapeared

also do the following
on the shield plex client do logout and then login
and you will see your new server
old server can be deleted via web browser

The issue is with Android 11 and Shield TV compatibility. They need to push out a new official update since all the previous 3 Hot-fixes have not address any of the known issues. I say just wait for the official update from Nvidia. Plex/Plex Media Server has been DOA since update to Android 11 over a month ago. They also need to address the issue of the Shield going to sleep/turning off even at changing settings to not sleep.

There’s no way to downgrade from Android 11. Factory reset wont fix anything

why no way?
you can downgrade to android 9 but you need shield gamepad

Yes. Very possible. If you’re outside your 1 year warranty think that’s the best move. The notion that these issues are a quick fix is a fallacy IMO.

You should not have to “hack” Your device to fix a problema caused by 2 third party features.

It’s more stable for sure, but something causes the adopted storage and internal storage to lock up, and then PMS obviously goes down along with all other apps.

Had mine running for 3 days, added a MKV yesterday, was borked when I woke up today.

Still no Plex Media Server up & running since purchasing the Nvidia Shield Pro (& lifetime Plex Pass) in January this year.

I upgraded to the hot fix 3, after 1 & 2 & did yet another factory reset - this time the server set up successfully, but froze gathering media meta data about a third of the way through my collection & wouldn’t restart again - rebooting did nothing to restart the server.

Unfortunately, I’m not confident enough to use DroidWin’s advice for downgrading, especially when I might void my warranty. So guess I’ll just have to hope that the Plex & Nvidia developers are still working on fixing these problems.

where your metadata are located?

External 5GB Seagate Expansion hdd.

may be 5TB?
is it connected via usb 3.0?

Yes, that’s right connected by usb 3.0 to the Nvidia shield pro.

which version plex server did you install?
what kind of wifi connection you use for shield?

Don’t bother trying until this is all fixed, and for the setup your looking to do, it is not.

with hotfix 3, does DLNA work??? (at home no)

I’m still waiting patiently for Nvidia to fix shield - even if u disregard the broken plex - the performance of the shield sucks balls. While we’re at it let’s make sure Plex and Nvidia start working properly. It sucks not being play media and it sucks not being able to enjoy my PlexAmp while I’m driving around. And please put all those fixes in the play store. None of those side load this sign up for beta this install hot fix that. Anyways - have a great weekend peoples .

EDIT: I still have to reboot the shield almost every day just so I can get it to work - that’s really getting old.

No need to sideload PMS app, latest version is already in the latest Nvidia Hotfix #3 (v1.25.3.5448).
That is the latest version you can get for the Nvidia Shield.

It would be great if we could have an easy option to just sign out of beta and install the ‘normal’ version. Just like you can with the XBox Beta program for example.

That said, my 9.0.1 Hotfix #3 version is now running very stable for the last 3 days without any crashes or freezes. Using just DirectPlay for my movies or tv shows.
Streaming music (with Plex Amp) also working very stable.

All of my media (films, tv-series, music, etc) all stored on my NAS server connected as an external network share in Shield and using small 256GB SSD formatted with MSDos FAT32 connected via USB to my Shield for storage of PMS Config, databases, etc.
This is working rock stable now since 3 days.

Now only waiting for fix to make my external USB SSD /Android/data/xxx folders accessible again.
I believe this is a Nvidia Shield thing (Android 11) so let’s hope we will have a fix for this soon!

Same here - everything working fine for 3 days and haven’t changed anything with any settings. Just started working

You didn’t need any hot fixes for Fat32. It has always worked, Hotfixes were needed for NTFS or ExFat.
