Some Live TV dont playable via Vbox

This appears to me an Android app regression.

I will refer this to the Android development team but I cannot see any Android logs to go with the server logs - you should be able to get the logs now by enabling network logging on the Android TV app - see Android, Android TV, Fire TV, Portal Logs | Plex Support

The android team will need their app logs - I will pass the details from what is in the provided server logs

Also please go to the android app settings on the phone and select the help and troubleshooting option to email the logs zip to yourself and then provide here together with the android TV app logs

(It is possible that there is sufficient info in the server log for the android team to find the regression - but if you can get the logs from the apps I will add them to the issue that i raised)

Thanks

Hi,

I attached here the Plex logs taken while network logging was activated on both TV and phone. Also I attached the phone support package.
Plex Media Server Logs_2023-08-27_19-56-33.zip (3.2 MB)

Manufacturer: samsung
Device: a52sxq
Model: SM-A528B
Product: a52sxqeea
Version: 13

Thanks for the Samsung phone Plex for Android logs

It shows the same tuning encoding issue also on earlier version 9.28.0 on the 19th August

I cannot see the logs zip from the plex app for the android tv - after you enable network logging, you can then download the logs from the device through its IP address using the url that is displayed on the settings page for network logging. When you download the logs in a browser, it will also include logs from before the time you enabled network logging, It would be interesting to see how far this log would go back and see if we can spot when the regression came in

Hi,

You may find the log attached.

Mihail
googletv.txt (2.6 MB)

Thank you

This goes back to the 25th and shows the encoding issue on tune requests on version 9.29.1.3463

Hi,

I want to ask a question ( maybe a stupid one ) : can the Android and Google TV apps be rolled back to the previous version somehow ?
Would be good to have the live TV function back until the problem is fixed

Thanks,
Mihail

The Plex for Android Release Notes - eg Plex for Android - #479 by PlexAndroidReleaser do offer an apk for side-loading for Plex Pass users

Super, I will try this later today. I see I have the version 9.29 on my TV, and the latest available one is 9.30 on the link you have given me. Will return after I try it out.

The earliest version showing the issue in all the logs was 9.28.0 - we don’t have any logs for earlier versions

Hi,

I couldn’t manage to install an older version.

First I tried to uninstall the existing version, and then install the apk. This succeeded, but the app was not visible nor in the main app page, neither in the settings - applications

Then, I installed the latest store version, after which, I installed the older version. It also succeeded, saying that it will update the app. It seemed to work, but after returning to the main page and opening plex, it still was the latest version, 9.30.

Mihail

I just installed the latest beta on my Plex server running on Ubuntu linux.
I can confirm that the DVR runs correctly on Plex Web and Windows Client, but it’s not working yet on any Android Clients (mobile or android TV).

Hopefully they’ll be a fix soon for this since they are already a few months since it stopped working (worked perfectly for more than i year i think since i’ve last visited the forum with this issue).

Hi,

I tried now the version 9.31.1, but still live TV is not working

Mihail

Look out for the release notes = Plex for Android - Announcements - Plex Forum

There will be a related release note when the fix is included

Hi,

Indeed, the release notes fro this version included only something related to Amazon fire TV sticks. Hoped it would work though

Mihail

The fix for the remaining issue relating to vbox iptv channel id’s that have spaces / extended characters has now been released - the issue was only seen on Plex for Android and the fix is in release 10.1.0

  • Live TV: fix encoding issues with xmltv channels that failed to tune.

Hi,

I tested both Phone and TV, and they are now working.

Thank you ,
Mihail
