Some Seasons Showing - Others Not

Hello,

I’m using Server Version#: 1.42.2.10156 on a Terramaster F4-425 NAS storage unit. I’m uploading a few TV series, and I’m having issues with the season below not showing up. It’s named the same as other seasons, and the files themselves play on my computer and my phone, so I don’t think it’s an issue with the media itself. Other seasons of this are showing. I tried the Plex Dance. No dice.

Any settings I should try changing?

Thanks for your help.

Seems to me this is almost certainly a permissions issue, either with the files themselves or even the Season 4 folder. If Plex doesn’t have permissions to read that folder, it doesn’t really matter what the permissions on the files are.

Just for grins, try moving one of the S4 files up a level and see if it gets detected.

Thanks for your response! Meaning move on season 4 files into another season? I just tried. Nada. Not sure about permissions; they look the same as other seasons/episodes

Yeah, thats what I meant, Plex really just looks at the SxxExx for the season & episode info. Using folders just makes it tidier.

I don’t use a NAS, so I’m kind of guessing. If the permissions look right, then I’m running out of ideas. I have had problems in the past where I’ve added episodes and Plex doesn’t pick them up. Sometimes doing a “touch” filename triggers Plex to scan the files again.
Come to think of it, I’ve read a few posts on here that suggest there is an added layer of trickery when using a NAS. Sometimes Plex doesn’t get notified about files changes/additions by the NAS. Perhaps that is what is happening.

Try doing the touch on the NAS, that should reset the timestamp on those files. If that doesn’t work, try to Plex Dance S4. Move it outside your TV Show folder, wait or initiated a rescan. When that is over, move S4 back to where it should be and do a rescan. Hopefully it will show up then.

Thanks for the additional tips! Pardon my ignorance…”touch?”

touch is a unix/linux command. Here is the synopsis from the manual page

NAME
touch - change file timestamps

You just run it from a terminal window on the NAS. I would think it would be available since most of them run an OS that is unix like. Just run it as “touch filename” where filename is the video file you want to update the timestamp on.

This is helpful. Thank you. I’ll give it a try later and see how it goes!

Something else to check would be to see if these are for some reason being picked up as duplicates of episodes already in your library. You can check by setting the filter/sorting/view of your library something like this:

For any item listed, do a Get Info from the vertical ellipsis menu and see what files are associated with it.

Just to confirm, both of those screenshots show season 4, a file and the folder. How does it compare to another season folder and files that do show up? Usually you see the plex user with permissions in addition to the default user, but maybe the Terramaster permissions are different?
