Some Show Seasons not showing up?

Finally had the time to get back into plex and started setting up a proper server.

Ive had many growing pains but with the help of google ive mostly been able to solve them. Till the latest, and hopefully last, one. Some of my seasons arent showing up!

Anger management is missing all of season 2
Breaking bad is missing Season 2 as well.
Burn Notice is missing season 2,3,4, and 5

Thats all i really got through right now.

I could understand if it was the wrong format, but its not. All of burn notice is formatted exactly the same. And what is there is correct, its just missing the rest.

Please give an example of your file and folder naming, nonetheless.
Do also verify where your tv show library is pointing at (which folder).

Are your files in mp4 format?

In this screen shot you can see Plex showing Burn Notice seasons 1,6, and 7, but not 2-5

In this screen shot it shows what folder i added, the root folder for all of Burn Notice

This one shows the Burn Notice root folder. It shows as a net work dive, took the screen shots on a different computer, but its the same folder.

Then then these 2 screen shots show the folders of season 1 and 2, they are formatted the same yet one shows and one dosent.

You are doing it wrong.
You don’t add the tv shows individually.
Instead, you just point Plex at your ‘TV Show main folder’. In your case, this would be G:
However, it is not recommended to point Plex at the root folder of a drive, so my first recommendation would be to take all your tv shows and move them into a subfolder on G:.
For instance G:\TV (you want a short name)

Then point your TV show library only to G:\TV

Furthermore, your season folders are supposed to be simply named Season 01, Season 02 and so on.

Your files are also incorrectly named.
You need Burn Notice - s01e01 - Pilot.avi

So the full path according to officially required file naming guide would be:
G:\TV\Burn Notice\Season 01\Burn Notice - s01e01 - Pilot.avi

Take a look at Filebot which allows you to bring all these things into order almost instantly.

So i have to go through and rename every single file and folder i have? Thats going to take forever. It really matters this much? This system sounds really finicky on how it handles, or dosent handle, files.

See my last post above. It doesn’t have to take that long.
And yes, strict tv show naming is mandatory or you’ll be in a world of pain.

Oh boy. I wasent prepared to have to go through and rename and re organize everything.
So, using file bot, i have to re organize eveything so it looks like

G:\TV\Burn Notice\Season 01\Burn Notice - s01e01 - Pilot.avi

Do i really need the TV folder? That one seems like such a waste. OK ill give this a try with a tv show and see how it goes.

OK where do i get filebot from? Im not on windows 10 which is where it keeps pointing me to. Nor will i buy this.

You could just create an ‘Other Videos’ library. This doesn’t fetch meta data and you’ll have to browse it in ‘folder view’ mode.
Not pretty at all and it also doesn’t track your progress when you are watching episode after episode.

G:\TV\Burn Notice\Season 01\Burn Notice - s01e01 - Pilot.avi

Yes.
There are other renamer programs as well, but FileBot is the most powerful, because it scans your files as well and looks up the tv show at TheTVDB and tries to get an accurate match. It also creates the full required folder structure for Plex.

I highly recommend to use the folder. Automatic library update in Plex works only reliably if you point it to a folder, and not a drive.

Then use this for instance
http://www.therenamer.com/

lol i found the renamer and was about to use it. I created the tv folder, actually called it Shows, and im copying burn notice to it now. Then ill run the renamer and see what the end result is.

You may want to perform steps 1-4 of the Plex Dance with ‘Burn Notice’
if you are not creating a fresh tv library for the test.

Wait, does it have to be named TV?

No, you can use what you want, but TV is the most logical while being very short.

In updated news i now have a folder on that harddrive labeled Television Shows with Burn Notice in it and Plex is handling it just fine. I didint have to rename anything. Apparently it REALLY wanted that folder.

Fix it or you’ll be sorry down the road; when your collection is bigger and more of a pain to fix.

Use a shorter folder name or you may run into one of the old Windows limit at one time: the 255 character path length limit.

This is misleading. Non-compliant file and folder names may work for a while. But as your library grows and shows and season are added, at one time it will eventually go ‘boom’. And then it is even more work to bring it into order.
Do yourself a favor and start cleaning up now.
