Source Error

Man, this sucks. Im on a 12hr flight with a huge pile of downloaded movies on plex which all give a ‘Source Error’ when i try to watch them… Tried to download that apk, but the internet on this plane is soo bad, it just cuts out and restarts. Finally I open google play, then there was the option to become a beta tester, after a few mins i had the option to update plex to a beta version via Google play, which was only a 6mb download instead of 96mb…now it works. A first world problem, but a really annoying one. I thought i was going to have to listen to my wife for 10 more hours…

Still a problem for me on both android tablet and samsun s24 ultra…

We’re not seriously going to call downgrading to the old version of the Plex app the solution, are we? That’s not a solution, it’s a band aid that won’t last forever. What happens when the server updates to a point that the old app no longer works properly? Or new Android devices can’t run the old app properly? Plus it kind of sucks I was forced to pay to use Plex remotely only to be supplied with a mobile app that doesn’t work right. This is still happening to me, after every 5 minutes or so of playback. Sometimes if I’m lucky I can get 15 or 20 minutes. If anybody feels like looking it over, I attached my log. I recorded the approximate times of some of the crashes, one at 12:43pm, one at 1:04pm, and one at 1:09pm.

This is on version 2025.23.0

I’m using Android Version 13

Plex Media Server.log (3.7 MB)

This is still an issue on 2025.22. It happens when in airplane mode so I’m assuming there won’t be any server logs.

Any supposed fix in a version from early May would have been integrated into the latest versions. There is no need to downgrade. If it’s not working now, the older one will not work either.

Interesting that you should say that because the downgraded version *has* been working for me without fail.

That is indeed interesting.

I think he is talking about the old Plex App (Version 10.26.0).

That version of course has none of the bugs, the new version has.
