Split Apart not available for Merged Items

I have several TV episodes that got merged together for some reason. and I want to split them apart. When I go to the Merged Item and click on “More,” there is no menu option for “Split Apart” (and none for “Fix Match” or “Unmatch” either). Yet there are clearly multiple files there, as I can see when I click "Get Info."

I thought that the naming of the files might be a problem, so I went back to my hard drive where all my media is stored and renamed all the files manually as “The Alienist S1E0X,” and so forth. Then I updated the libraries. But those episodes are still doubled up and I’m at my wits’ end. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Rename per Plex recommendations.

  • Season Folder with two digits for season number.
  • Use two digits for season & episode numbers in file names (sXXeYY, not sXeYY).

Plex Dance the entire show after renaming/reorganizing.

Example:
/TV/The Alienist/Season 01/The Alienist - s01e01 - The Boy on the Bridge.mkv
