SSL Certificate Errors

I am experiencing the same issues on a My Cloud Home. Incredibly frustrating that WD are not serious about updating their apps in order to keep systems secure.

@netholden

which version of PMS are you using? (server version please – 1.xx.x.xxxx )

I’m asking so I can go ask engineering about how far the backward compatibility runs.

I’m pretty sure (but need to check) that anything above 1.18.5 is ok. :crossed_fingers:

Hi, can you check/reset my certs? only able to access remotely when “secure connections = Disabled”.

Thank you for all the help Chuck! It says “Version 1.18.6.2350”

Hi can I have my certificate reset as well please?

Thanks!

Have a friend you suddenly cannot connect (though others can) from one device he owns (his smart TV). In the logs I am seeing:

[0x14fad709ab38] DEBUG - CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from 127.0.0.1:57714: sslv3 alert certificate expired

Otherwise, it looks good.

Getting the same error in my logs -CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from 192.168.1.16:40573: sslv3 alert certificate expired

Can you please reset my cert as well? Much appreciated.

Hello @ChuckPa
Not sure if my certs are ok. Can you check? I believe these are the right log files.

Have a few devices; roku and firestick that won’t connect remotely to server. Although they aren’t receiving the error about secured connections. Pc’s are connecting ok. plex logs zip.zip (1.5 MB)

Thank you.

@calebpaine1

Is it just one person or everyone ? If just one then not likely the certificate. Please advise.

@prafs

I have removed the other instances of the same-named server and reset the existing certificate.

You may restart.

@Zmeister68

I have reset the certificate. You may restart.

Thanks ChuckPa I have restarted the server but some users are still having problems and I can still see the certificate warning in the logs.

Oct 07, 2021 22:11:43.825 [0x7f373b569b38] DEBUG - CERT: incomplete TLS handshake from xxx.151.215.176:48888: sslv3 alert certificate expired

Anecdotally all of the people affected seem to be on Samsung TVs.

@monkeyphonix

Have they restarted?

Also, are they using the now-expired Rasplex client (Update via github to resolve)

Or are they experiencing this?

Restarted the TV Plex client you mean? Yes I restarted the server in the afternoon and they only turned on their TV at night. Do the modems/routers also need restarting on both ends?

No Rasplex in use.

I reckon its probably that last issue. I will try those fixes mentioned in your link. Many thanks.

@ChuckPa
Only one report so far, looking over my Tautulli logs, avg hours/day of use has taken a nose dive in the last week but so far only this one user has reported any issues. Plex works perfectly fine for me on Web, Windows App, & mobile (both Wifi and Cell remote). The user in question reported their mobile working as well, just not their TV. Looked at the server logs, didn’t see an issue other than that single mention of an expired cert, googling the error brought me here.

@calebpaine1

If you’re not seeing the expired cert, which all indications at Plex.tv show it’s not, then it very likely is on the player side

You will need to get the player logs to see what’s really happening.

Hm, its a SmartTV. He had difficulty even getting the thing reset, I doubt there’s any way to get logs out of it.

Brand, model, and year (should be on the label)

Samsung UN65RU800F, year unknown.

@ChuckPa
Thank you for resetting!

update…After the cert reset the roku devices and firestick can now connect but need to be set for insecure connections always. I’m guessing it’s not just the Tv’s with built in apps having the issue with secure connections Thanks again!

@ChuckPa

can you reset my cert to please

@Omar_el_Marajie

Your certificate is fine:

Valid	Fri, 08 Oct 2021 20:55:48 +0000	Fri, 08 Oct 2021 20:56:00 +0000

I did remove the fallen Towers of Babel for you.

Have those you share with restart the app.
