Sudden change in track titles on multi-disc albums

Server Version#: 1.17.0.1841

So has anyone experienced this? I noticed this was happening after updating to the latest public release, which really sucks, because I use Plex daily as my music streamer, and having the wrong tracks display just seems off for a music player.

Basically the problem is that on multiple disc albums, the tracks of disc 1 could appear on disc 2, disc 3 and so on…
This will suck fixing for many albums as you have to: remove album from the library’s sight, rescan, add it back, scan (why isn’t individual scans a thing yet? the process is the same for fixing metadata through mp3tag etc)

I really wish Plex listened to their listeners as much as we listen to our music, because the server has great potential, with lots of new drawbacks coming all the time…

All my music is tagged by hand, and therefore I only use a local agent. Nothing changed before and after the update, other than it breaking.

Yes! I thought I was going crazy but the same thing has happened to me. The song titles for disc 1 repeat across the other discs for some multiple-disc sets.
Doesn’t seem to be impacting all multi-disc sets - but enough to be really annoying.
I’m also using hand tagged meta-data. Suspect it happened as part of the big music update a couple of months back but cannot be sure.
Is there an easy way to update meta-data using the original local tags to fix this?

  1. edit the music library and make sure that both Scanner and Agent are set to ‘Plex Music’
  2. ‘prefer local metadata’ must be activated
  3. Perform the Plex Dance “light” (omitting step 4) with all albums of an affected artist

It was more intended as a test.
If it works afterwards, we have a valuable pionter to debug the issue.

I’ll give it a try, thank you, - but it looks like I’ll be losing my playlists if the scan has to reoccur after putting the files out of sight from Plex

That’s unfortunately true.
