Suddenly no remote access

Good evening sir,

I am the same problem as many in this thread. I would greatly appreciate it if you would take a look at my logs.

@gundamx

Your IP is being throttled (422) and there’s a problem

However: port 17930 is being used.

Aug 29, 2023 17:00:19.417 [16448] DEBUG - [EventSourceClient/pubsub/172.105.13.59:443] PubSub: Got notified of reachability for async identifier 27077072-70a7-4aea-b5f6-8d3a3e51f68b: 0 for XXX.XXX.XXX.XXX:17930 (responded in 5224 ms)

It’s also asserting NAT-PMP (automatic port mapping) is still pending.

Can you sort out which port is being used and which port should be used ?

Plex.tv shows one thing (32400) your logs show another. (17930)

If you’ve changed the port, turn remote access off and wait a bit before turning back on.

I have 32400 set for when I manually select a port, this is also forwarded in my router. If I don’t use that it goes to 17930. I’ll try shutting remote access off for a bit and then reenable it with port specified.

You need to pick one port… not two.

Please choose one

I tend to use a mathematical theme for ports.

31415, 14142 … etc

I set up remote access using port 32400 as the specified port. I still don’t have access from outside my network (using the plex app on my phone)

Update: I still have this issue even when I connect online with my phone mobile hotspot. So it can’t be BT either. What the hell did I DO

It seems to have been a temporary problem for me since it’s working today. Maybe the DNS that someone mentioned. All good now.

@FulciLives97

I don’t know what is available to you in the UK to try.

I don’t think suggesting you go whole hog into something like a pfsense is appropriate nor do I know what BT allows.

With PMS showing Remote Access as available, Have you:

  1. Lookup your Public IP address
  2. Opened a web browser
  3. Opened https://IP.addr.of.Server:32400/web in that browser

?

If you can do this while on LTE/cellular, but not through the Plex app – Then we have progress.

It still says the connection has timed out. Could it be windows firewall settings maybe?

Edit:idk what happened but now she’s working again. Thank you technology jesus and ChuckPa for being helpful in the face of us chimps

Here are logs from my connection issue:

Couldn’t spot anything significant there myself.

Update, I switched my port forwarding to 17930 while also setting that port in Plex. I still don’t have remote access.

I have also tried power cycling my modem, and turning off remote access for a period of time as well as disabling my port forwarding.

After complete reinstalls with Plex I’m at the stage where I can sometimes connect but only “indirectly” and I can’t actually play anything off the server but progress is progress*

*they hope

Indirectly means there is no direct path to AND INTO port 32400 on the PMS machine.

Port forwarding is part one, firewall on the PMS host is part 2.

I’ve checked all my firewall settings and turned it off on both the hub and my computer + I’m routing everything to google DNS now on my machine + made rules on windows firewall to keep :32400 open. I’m sorry if I’m being dumb a lot of this is new to me but I’m very at a loss here

Is this your machine?

Yeah that’s me

See where it says “Published: NO” ?

It is not seeing the Remote Access ON request.

Even if the firewall was messed up, “Published: YES [ WAN.IP.ADDR.PMS ]” is what we’d see

This is my host: PUBLISHED YES (XX.XXX.XXX.XX:31416)

How do I change that setting?
