On a whim, I tried something that I found in another, similar, thread and so far, it seems to have fixed my issue. I’ve seen remote access green for 5 minutes now, which is a near miracle.
Although these are for the Synology platform, I extrapolated the details to use ssh/vi to chage it on my qnap. Short list is I:
Shut down the plex service on my qnap
deleted my server from the app.plex.tv site
Signed out of app.plex.tv
Modified the preferences.xml file
started plex back up
used a private browsing tab to navigate to the internal IP of my plex server
at this point it deviated from the linked doc. I just hit a “finish” type button where it referenced my media config being good to go (Sorry, I can’t remember the specific page it showed me). It then took me to the main plex page, lots of yellow !'s everywhere. I just went to settings>general and signed in.
Same issue here. Setup static IP, did port forward for TCP and UDP. Picked a manual port on plex server. Removed the itunes plug just in case. Restarted and reset router. My port is found as per the canyouseme.org web and I can watch a movie using 4G on my iphone so I guess I have access yet. Plex says Not available outside your network. I don’t get it. Enabled firewall for plex and didn’t choose public. Only thing I am not sure of is the AVAST antivirus settings for plex. All I could do is allow the plex folder in AVAST. Having said that if I disable AVAST all together the plex server remote access situation doesn’t change. I also checked for latest windows update and plex update and modem update, no double NAT either.
Well I had to go and mess it up. I was having an issue that whenever I logged into app.plex.tv, I’d get an error about not having a secure connection to my server. After a bit of cludging aorund, I realized the https cert on my server had been revoked for whatever reason. After setting secure connections to disabled, stopping plex and deleting it from the app.plex.tv, logging back into everything, and reenabling secure connections to Preferred, I got a new cert pushed down to me and i can now connect securely to app.plex.tv.
Of course, now my remote access is flapping waaaay more than it was before. I feel like if I run through the steps I posted above to fix remote access, I’ll probably lose my SSL cert again and be in an endless loop.
The only thing I could try differently this time is to disable secure connections first, then go through all the steps and see if that helps. Getting so tired of tautulli spamming me.
Same issue here, shows as disconnected every ~60mins in the PMS remote access GUI, but can still connect remotely in most cases.
Win Server 2019: fully patched
PMS: 1.19.2.2702
No double NAT
No previous issues
Firewall rules ok, including disabling public profile access
Confirmed port open using canyouseeme.org
Logs: Plex Media Server Logs_2020-04-27_16-22-22.zip (5.2 MB)
EDIT: Just seen there’s a new PMS update, 1.19.2.2711. Installed and will see if this fixes the issue, seems unlike as only item in the release notes:
Same issue for me, not sure what I did but it suddenly started working today after I upgraded to the latest version of Catalina Pretty sure that wasn’t the resolution though.
