Sweet Fades Not Working with Guest DJ

Hey all,

I confirmed that Sweet Fades work correctly with normal playlists (and Library Radio, my go to). However, when I enable Guest DJ, specifically DJ Stretch I don’t believe it properly fades between inserted songs.

All of my songs do have waveforms, as I thought I might have been bitten by the missing loudness bug earlier so I double checked.

I’m running Plexamp 4.5.2 on iOS 16.1

That shouldn’t be the case. Feel free to post Plexamp logs right after a lack of fade so we can verify.

So this is a bit embarrassing. I’m not able to consistently repro this issue. When I start Plexamp fresh, hit the library radio, and turn on Guest DJ Stretch, it seems to fade just fine. If I close Plexamp, open it again, and hit play to continue, it seems like sweet fades don’t work. But sometimes when I do it, fades do work.

I’ve attached my logs.

If I look at the last 15 tracks, 3 of them didn’t overlap. HOWEVER, this is totally legal and might just relate to the endings/starts of the tracks being “abrupt”. Note that Sweet Fades don’t imply everything overlaps (or is cross-fading, which it’s not).

Thanks for looking into it. Could be working as expected.

When I look at the waveform, sometimes they have a long line at the end. Does that indicate at all if there will be a Sweet Fade?

You might need to be specific, what sort of a line? If it’s a flat line, then more likely to be an overlap vs ending loudly.

Sorry, yes. Here’s an example where the Sweet Fades don’t kick in. There’s a long flat line at the end of the song before the next starts.

(I’m going to regret revealing that I own Creed music, please blame the Guest DJ)

tap the total time and see how much near silence there is at the end of the first tracks. we lowered the limit to 15 seconds for overlap a few releases ago.

i listen to “my own prison” every now and then.

I think it’s working correctly. As soon as it hits -15 seconds, it starts playing Seether - Driven Under. But if I insert another song in between with a less abrupt opening (Evanesence - Lost in Paradise), it fades into it.
