You are running an old beta release of Plex Media Server, which has different installation options.
Unfortunately, Synology will not update their servers with the current release.
You need to update to a current release of Plex Media Server.
Download the current DSM 7 version of Plex Media Server for your NAS.
- Pick
Synology (DSM 7)
, notSynology
, from the dropdown list. - You want the Intel 64-bit build.
Perform a manual installation:
Note: Installing with a Claim Token on DSM 7 is covered in Synology FAQ 22 - When server and device credentials are out of sync. You don’t have that problem, but the process is the same. The FAQ has screenshots and step by step instructions.
- Login to the NAS and launch Package Center
- Uninstall Plex Media Server with the Keep option.
- Click on Manual Install (upper right corner), and choose the file you downloaded from Plex.
- During the install, you will see a window with the option to install with a Plex Claim Token.
- Choose that option. The process will lead you through obtaining and using the token (you’ll go to a web page that has the token, then copy/paste).
- Click next, etc to let the installation proceed.
IMPORTANT: The installation process will create a new shared folder, PlexMediaServer, and will move your Plex Data Folder to that location. This migration process can take minutes to hours, depending on the amount of media on your system. Do not interrupt the process. Let it continue, even if your DSM session times out. This is part of upgrading from the old beta to a current release. It is a one-time thing.
When the installation process finishes, login to your Plex server using the local IP address of your NAS: http://synology_ip_address:32400/web.
You should be able to access your server, verify settings, etc.
