Having your media under Homes ---- I’d recommend moving them to dedicated shared folders for safety but, for now, we’ll get you running again.
First things to do:

Uninstall the DSM 7 plex package with the ERASE option.
– This erases the PlexMediaServer shared folder (which is a rogue server instance at this point) -
Now, using this How-To, Grant FULL CONTROL file permissions to the new PlexMediaServer username (old Plex has been abandoned in DSM 7). MAKE CERTAIN TO CLICK THE Apply to this folder, sub-folders, and files box as you do this else migration will have problems.
- The final step is to install DSM 7 package. It will automatically find and migrate for you from DSM 6 → DSM 7.
– It will sit at “Installing” (BE PATIENT – Do NOT refresh the screen)
– In a second tab, open FileStation and look in the “Plex” shared folder.
– After about the 3 minute mark, you’ll see “Migration.log”. You can track its progress there.
