Synology | No Access to Server

Server Version#: 1.21.0-3744
Player Version#:NA

Hello, i ran into an issue where i am unable to access my server.

I have done the following without success:

  1. Reinstalled Plex Media Server
  2. Rebooted the machine local machine
  3. Rebooted my Synology server
  4. Checked the settings

No matter what i do I cannot “claim my server” nor get past this screen. Options?

Which Synology model?

The NAS is running DSM 7, correct?

Use a private/incognito browser window (bypasses browser plug-ins).

Point it directly at your server: http://syno_ip_address:32400/web (ex: http://192.168.1.2:32400/web).

Due to how DSM 7 works, clicking the Open button in Package Center, using app.plex.tv, etc will not work when trying to claim a server.

Also, note that PMS 1.21.0-3744 is outdated. It was a beta release for DSM compatibility. Unfortunately, Synology will not post a current version via Package Center.

You should download the current version from Plex, https://www.plex.tv/media-server-downloads/#plex-media-server, and perform a manual installation using Synology Package Center.

Hi, Thank you.

Its a RS1221+, and I tried to get a newer one but it does not list for AMD processor. Recommendations on which one to select?

Also that worked thank you!

Use Intel 64-bit. The AMD Ryzen V1500B is the same architecture.

Note the separate download for DSM 7. Installing the DSM 6 version on a DSM 7 system doesn’t hurt anything, but the install will immediately fail.

When you update to a current version, you’ll see a new shared folder, /PlexMediaServer. This is the Plex Data Folder location, the equivalent of /Plex on DSM 6 systems.

Also, the Synology FAQ has a lot of good info regarding Plex on Synology: Synology FAQ - Questions, Answers, and a few How-To’s
