Tidal - new singles do not show up

Very typical. I am based in the Netherlands. I would have expected that the full album (incl track #1) would be available in the US as well.

@elan Please can you say a word about this issue? . New releases of about 3/4 months ago are playable in Tidal but not in Plex

A few new arrivals happened this week, and I’ve updated the Excel document (on dropbox) above.

On Tues, July 6:
Track #4 became available on Plex for Robin McAuley-Standing on the Edge (released May 7). Just waiting for track 7.

On Thurs, July 8:
These tracks became searchable & viewable on Plex, but still unable to play. (“something went wrong” errors).
*We Are Messengers: Come What May
*Building 429: Not Finished Yet

Excited to see more arrive soon. Thanks for keeping the thread alive.

This is happening also to old albums. Despicable me 2 OST is missing the 4th song, which is present on Tidal app.

There are some songs that are being listed but it’s not possible to play them, but searching on a different album will lead you to a playable song. For example, the System of a Down album “Toxicity” which is listed on their profile doesn’t work, but if you search for it, you’ll get a working one.

Looks like tracks 7 and 8 are missing as well.

I did quite a bit of head banging before I discovered this. Albums on TIDAL can be replaced for whatever reason (MQA version uploaded over the original), and I think the “album link” on Plex gets broken. Not sure how often artist pages are updated, but searching for the album has always done the trick for me. Of course, sometimes you will get duplicate results and it’s not always clear which version is which.

I’ve been using Tidal on Plex for less than one month and my feeling is that when a song is in 2 albums at the same time on Tidal, Plex struggles to play them. It’s true that I’ve had problems to play tracks that are only in one album though…

Could it be that Tidal has a system to detect duplicated tracks to reduce storage use in their servers and Plex doesn’t like it?

In addition to that, I’ve seen one single which in Tidal app is only listed once and it is an album marked as master version, which doesn’t show up in Plex, but searching that single in Plex shows another track. Adding it to a playlist and then reviewing in Tidal app it reveals a different album without the master mark.

I’d like to update this with a few issues i’ve faced when adding tracks from tidal to plex,

firstly no Singles or E.Ps are added just albums, this is unfortunate since a number of new artists only have Singles.

Secondly plex does static snapshots of current tracks and albums of said artist and doesn’t automatically update them, so in the case of a new track or updated version the link will be broken.

I do hope singles & E.Ps will be added later, i’ve also come across some artists that i can’t play or add to plex but show up in tidal (within plex)

Thanks for adding your comments as well @bkr32 & @Moli_T!

@deactivated & @elan when can we expect a response from Plex? This is feeling us stalking you, but I am surprised that there is no support on this issue while you are still offering the Plex & Tidal integration (which I in principle really endorse!)

@3s83
In practice the api for singles & e.p does exist (made a data exporter with python using it) so I’m guessing it is entirely possible that they will add it at some point,

I’d like to see a mqa decoder as well even if it’s a extra add on

Can you be a bit more clear on this? We should have singles and EPs in the TIDAL catalog.

[Edit: Ah, edit, you mean when saving the artist to your plex library?]

@elan yes while saving a artist to Plex,
Frankly plexamp builds much better playlists than tidal and with the cache it’s a no brainer, but currently we do lose out on a number of singles tracks ie most of Billie eilish’s catalog is singles

@elan : Thanks for replying.
What we’re saying is: New singles & EP’s are continually being released on Tidal, but for the past several months (since late March2021), we can’t see them, add them to our libraries, or play them using Plex.

Ah, maybe I misunderstood. So you’re trying to just play these EPs via TIDAL, not add them to a Plex media server library?

I see quite a few singles for Billie Eilish over here.

Not just singles, also full length albums. I have a long list of albums released within the last 2/3 months that are available on Tidal to play but missing in plex. I’d like to know why

Do you have a few specific examples? (and let me know your region as well)

They’ve been keeping a spreadsheet. :stuck_out_tongue:

Sure, I’m from southamerica (Argentina). Here are some albums but the list is long

Devo - Somewhere with Devo https://tidal.com/browse/album/182380573()
Lucia Cifarelli - I Am Eye (I Am Eye by Lucia Cifarelli on TIDAL)
Cubic - The Cubic Alphabet (The Cubic Alphabet by Cubic on TIDAL)
Erasure - My Sad Autumn (My Sad Autumn by Erasure on TIDAL)
Suicidal Romance - A kiss to resist (A Kiss to Resist by Suicidal Romance on TIDAL)

All released in different months and all available in Tidal to play.

I’m in the US.
Tons of examples on the spreadsheet listed above in this thread, but here’s a few newer examples:
From Tidal’s view:

From Plex’s view of Tidal artist: missing the singles.

Here’s Matthew Parker on Tidal:

Here’s Matthew Parker on Plex: missing newest single “Martian Party”

Here’s Night Ranger on Tidal:

Here’s Night Ranger on Plex: Missing newest singles

Thanks again for chiming in.

Some EP examples:

This is Gary LeVox on Tidal: New EP is called “One On One” (release date 5/21/21)

This is Gary LeVox on Plex: EP is missing

Here’s Jason Crabb on Tidal: new EP is called “Just As I Am” (release date 6/18/21)

Here’s the Plex view, in which the EP is missing, but the single “Just as I Am” shows up:

In this case, Tidal has removed the single, although Plex still shows it’s available, and when you try to play it, we get this message:

Several more EP examples in the spreadsheet, but in all cases, these are releases since March2021.

@elan, Let me know if you need more screen shots.
Thanks again.

@yortdog I guess my issue differs slightly from yours.

What’s currently happening on plex is
If artist added to lib
Get all albums
Get all metadata for albums
Done

In essence there’s no scheduled task to re-add the artist or rather asynchronously update the artist as they add new data, it’s mentioned in the Plex article about adding tidal tracks to Plex.

On the other hand, my issue is simply that singles and E.Ps aren’t added at all while adding artist from tidal to Plex amongst other things (mqa decoder support, Atmos for applicable devices, skipped songs that need to be looked into & artists that flat out aren’t added to Plex)

Edit:
Also @yortdog I had also come across a issue similar to how you’ve described it however in my case Plex was adding songs & albums that didn’t even exist on tidal
