Thanks for your response @elan, I really appreciate it.
I am based in the Netherlands.
The problem is that singles and EP’s available on Tidal do not show up in Plex when you search for them (even via the Tidal integration in Plex itself). This is especially the case for new releases.
A still current example which I mentioned in this thread is for Ryan Adams’ new single Big Colors:
This is what I see in my Tidal environment (Tidal.com):
Searching for the EP & singles of Ryan Adams in my Plex instance via the Tidal integrations shows me this, thus missing the new single “Big Colors”:
Thanks for looking into this topics. Please let me know how we can further help you to pinpoint this issue.
While it’s not an EP or Single, another example of missing content would be John Mayer’s new album Sob Rock. Released today, it’s available on TIDAL, but it’s completely MIA in Plex, even if you search for it manually.
@Noah0504: full disclosure, I stole this ingenious idea from @eadamss in this thread, which compared Tidal’s own “New Arrivals” playlist through Plex’s platform.
Here’s how mine looks today:
66 songs on Tidal’s platform, all added today. Highlighted titles do not appear in Plex:
I guess that when they say we are missing singles and EPs they mean that if you add the artists to your Plex library, only albums are added. If you want to add singles and EPs you have to add them manually one by one.
@Moli_T : No, that’s not correct. @elan has correctly summarized my problem in the USA: There have been 100+ songs added to Tidal’s catalog since March/April2021 that do not show up in Plex’s search function and cannot be added to Plex’s library in any way. Whatever Plex can see in Tidal’s catalog, Plex can add. An occasional new single can be seen & added in Plex, but more often than not, the newly released track/EP cannot be seen in Plex. Most albums do appear to show up, but a little late, and occasionally missing a track or two. But from Plex’s perspective, the new singles/EP’s appear to be completely missing, even months later. There appears to be no way to add Tidal’s new songs to Plex (because Plex can’t see them).
@yortdog, I’m having the same behavior from Spain, but as it seems it only happens with singles and EPs, I thought you were referring to that way of adding artists to the library.
Thanks, just did a check with a few new singles from some mainstream artists:
Tidal:
Plex (via Tidal integration)
Missing 5 out of 16 tracks:
Ryan Adams - Big Colors
Merchant - Dead days & gatorade
The Killers & Bruce Springsteen - Dustland
Guns n’ Roses - Absurd
The Weeknd - Take my breath
If any additional checks from my side are required, glad to help! Thanks for your attention and hopefully the team is soon ready and available to work on this issue.
I want to speak up and say I’ve noticed this for at least a month now, if not longer, as I figured it would be addressed eventually. Very frequently when a new album comes out you can see it on listen.tidal.com but it won’t show up in a Plexamp search. Older albums from the same artist will appear so the Tidal integration is working otherwise smoothly. Even when not checking on release day I’ve come across examples of missing content. I’ll start to track this better now that I know there’s a thread.
Two examples for releases today are the new Deafheaven and Wolves in the Throne Room albums. Both appear on listen.tidal.com and neither show up when browsing the Tidal artist entry in Plex.
One odd issue that might be related is that sometimes albums come through and it will only be half of the songs. Is this some sort of API issue? Perhaps an anti-piracy feature by delaying how long stuff shows up?
Ultimately, this has changed my habits, I specifically subscribed to Tidal due to this integration as a way to try stuff before I bought it on Bandcamp. The quality is better and doesn’t require a browser when I could try new stuff in Plexamp but now I’m back to streaming on Bandcamp.
Just checking in to remind everyone @ Plex HQ that this hasn’t been fixed yet. Now that the Super Sonic project has been implemented, can I respectfully ask this thread’s request gets some love? Plus, it’d be sweeter for Plex to show off Tidal’s new releases on this discovery front, too.
I’m still maintaining a spreadsheet of missing albums & tracks. I quit adding titles after the July31 release date, because I think I’ve made my point with the 90+ titles missing, but I still update the spreadsheet when Tidal songs become available via Plex. It’s interesting to review how long it’s taken for some of the albums to become available, if at all.
My Tidal playlist is currently 171 songs that I can’t play via Plex, but I still check in nearly every day to confirm. I empathize with @dustvegk & it’s changed my listening habits, too. There’s lots of toggling between Spotify & Plex now, which doesn’t live up to the original dream of being able to integrate my owned collection w/ my favorite tracks from the Tidal repertoire.
You can have new releases on tidal enabled from manage library. Its weird that its not picking ALL new releases though. Its actually missing a ton. But its there
Indeed, I have even the feeling that it becomes worse. Just checking by adding the “New Arrivals” playlist to my collection on Tidal. On Tidal, I can see the list consists of 60 songs:
