Yep, you were right this does work
I’m running the same version as you and all seems fine now so thanks again, Friend!
Just want to add that I’m having the exact same issue on my Vizio E70-F3 when subtitles are enabled.
PMS Version 1.32.4.7195
I use a 2018 Mac Mini (8700B 6C/12T, 32GB, Intel UHD 630, macOS 13.4.1) for the record and Plex Transcoder would consistently crash for the past week out of nowhere.
Downgrading Plex to 1.31.1.6733 via the GitHub link you posted worked for me! No more crashing - thank you so much for this!!
Try downgrading,

Thanks to “Art_Vandelay” for sharing this merhod.
I’m having the same issue, playing on my Xbox Series X. I have downgraded for now.
Just doing my due diligence by reporting I have the same issue since last upgrade.
Same error in log, same crashes. Downgraded as suggested in this thread and it seems fine so far. If it happens again after this downgrade I will edit this post.
Experiencing issue today on LG G1 WebOS. I was playing files with forced subtitles. Turning the subtitles off prevented the transcoder crashes.
I have been having this issue recently, I managed to catch a core of the Transcoder crashing, no debug symbols but just posting this in case it is useful, happy to share more if it’s helpful, I can reproduce this on demand.

FYI, I can no longer reproduce if I roll back to 1.32.1.6999.
Same issue here (Plex for Samsung). The app crashes when playing something with subtitles and at original quality near the end. I can provide more logs if necessary.
Jul 18, 2023 23:17:10.507 [7752] ERROR - [Req#afd13] [Plex for Samsung] [xxx:xxx] Playback error occurred. Reason: ServerTerminatedStream, Server terminated stream: Conversie mislukt. Het transcoder-proces is gecrasht.
Also on version 1.31.1.6733, I had a similar crash.
hi @sa2000 just wondering if there has been any update?
Most people in the threads have suggested reverting to an older plex version but i didn’t want to do that for security reasons… however it’s been like a month+ since the issue first started and the issue does not exist on older plex versions… any updates from the dev team?
Thanks for this solution !
Work Great ![]()
My friend was complaining about this very issue while using my Plex server on Windows 10, she has a Samsung smart TV. I tried deleting Codecs folder content, tried deleting Transcoder folder content, didn’t work. What did work for her was disabling subtitles.
Sorry - I do not have an update on this. It is one of the priority issues
Just wanted to add that I’m also seeing this issue. Files play just fine with subtitles, until the very end when they crash with a transcoder error. Disabling subtitles resolves the crash.
Same here, server latest version on MacOS and LG WebOS.
And here. Both LG WebOS and Xbox One X with latest server version. Seeking when subtitles are active on direct play content - both 4k and full HD. Should be transcoding (my NUC hasn’t got the horsepower to transcode 4k anyway)
@kevin_marchant If you get the error after seeking, please respond to that topic: LG C9 TV: Conversion failed. The transcoder exited due to an error happening occasionally - #68 by cremor
The “error after seeking” bug is older than the “error after end of subtitles” bug and still needs to get attention from Plex devs.
Same crash here with Nvidia SHIELD serveur.
Anyway to downgrade version ?
Downgraded to 1.31.1.6733…problem solved. Plex, please address this.
