TV show not appearing in library

Hi. I can’t seem to get a TV show I have (Fear The Walking Dead) to appear in my normal TV Shows Library. All my TV shows are converted to mp4 and come from the same source. I’ve tried renaming the files/episodes for this show as per the instructions on the help forum but that doesn’t seem to work. However, bizarrely, if I create a brand new library it will appear in there when I create it. Can anyone help? I’d really prefer to keep all my TV shows in one library. Many thanks!

As a precaution make this adjustment:
go to Settings - Server - Agents - Shows - TheTVDB
In there, grab the line ‘Local Media Assets’ with your mouse and drag it downwards, so it ends up being at the bottom of the stack of active agents.

After failed attempts to match a show and subsequent file renamings perform the Plex Dance.

if they are in MP4 check to see if there is metadata stored in the mp4 file and if so remove it.

also series should be named like so, which i am guessing you did already as you read the site.

TV Series
-----Fear the Walking Dead
---------Season 01
----------------Fear the Walking Dead - S01E01.mp4
----------------Fear the Walking Dead - S01E02.mp4
----------------Fear the Walking Dead - S01E03.mp4

Thanks for your reply. I’m still converting my shows for Plex so haven’t yet tried all the different suggestions given- however can you let me know how you check the metadata in the individual MP4 files?

You don’t need to, if you perform the config change I proposed above.

With iTunes, you can see and change the title metatag.
Windows will show it by default in the file properties.
There are several other ‘tagging’ software programs available for all major PC platforms which can do it too. (I can only tell you for sure about Windows, mp3tag is my favorite.)

Like @OttoKerner said, if you follow his directions, you do not need to remove the metadata.

Thanks both. I made a new Library folder, did the Plex Dance, and renamed everything again. Seems to be working so far! I think part of the problem may have been I hadn’t re-named some of the shows in the original folder and it still effected the re-named ones when trying to add.

NB. I did find the movie The Movie Database (for some reason) actually works better for some foreign language tv shows- The Bridge(Bron), Spiral etc
