I recently noticed that some of the thumbnail images for TV shows are missing. Any ideas why? Currently running PMS version 1.11.3.4803. Not interested in updating at this point given recent drama with recording trouble in recent versions (still a little shell shocked over all that). Here’s a screenshot for reference:
Just confirmed that Plex Media Server 1.12.1.4871 has the same thumbnail image missing issue on two different NAS units (Synology DS1815+ and QNAP TS-451+).
Can you provide more information on what exactly you were seeing and where. I understand in the Program Guide and I am guessing it was the Watch Now section. Viewing different parts of the Program Guide I was seeing something similar earlier but on my system the text under the thumbnails said Loading. Unfortunately I am not able to replicate the problem again, all of the thumbnails are loading.
In my case the description under the missing thumbnail was complete. The only thing out of the ordinary was the missing thumbnail as far as I could tell.
I can post up some logs if anyone thinks it would be helpful.
I experience missing posters in every section of the dvr. In the main menu on the left I click on “Program Guide” and voila, I get a page with half the posters missing. Those shows where posters are missing do have full meta data, like title and synopsis.
@johnm_ColaSC It seems that it might be an issue with getting the artwork from gracenote (or where ever PMS pulls them from). I don’t have access to my logs currently, but i was getting numerous 404 errors (calling back into ourselves for photo to transcode, optimizing the process (status: 404)) anytime a show with missing artwork was shown in the guide. Thinking maybe my local cache of artwork was somehow corrupted, I pointed my docker container at a brand new plex database and pulled down fresh listings and metadata. Still had the same issue.
when I delete and set up a new dvr, all of the images come through. It’s only after the first guide refresh that the images disappear. I can still tune the channel and record, so it’s not a huge issue. It just doesn’t look very nice.
I found that if I limit the guide to 50 channels then all the posters show up. So it’s probably only affecting us with the HDHomeRun prime since other HDHomeRuns probably wouldn’t be picking up 50 channels. Seems to me like a bug with plex and not Gracenote.
