I have all three series of the Twilight Zone on my PLEX server. I have them named (I believe) correctly as follows in separate folders in the TV Shows folder:
“The Twilight Zone (1959)”,
“The Twilight Zone (1985)”, and
“The Twilight Zone (2002)”.
Instead of the expected behavior (three seperate shows in the directory), I have only one folder which corresponds to the original 1959 show, with all three sets of episodes all mixed in and mislabeled.
Anyone know how I can fix this? In the past, I’ve simply added the year to the original series and it fixed this problem…not so this time.
I forgot to add that the same thing happened with the two “Outer Limits” series. I put the date on the original and it fixed it immediately. I don’t understand why it didn’t this time.
My Twilight Zone shows, I also have all three, work perfectly. I have my folders named with the dates BUT I do not have dates in the file names.
That is the 1985 series is set like this:
TV Shows <— The library points here
---------Twilight Zone (1985) <— This folder holds the season folders
------------------Season 01 <— This folder holds all the episodes for season 01
-------------------------The Twilight Zone - s01e01 - Shatterday.mp4
-------------------------The Twilight Zone - s01e02 - A Little Peace and Quiet.mp4
-------------------------And so on for the rest of season 01
This is the same for the remainder of the seasons and the other Twilight Zone years use the same format.
Be sure that if you change things you perform the Plex Dance so that Plex knows that changes have been made.

I have found that having the date in the folder name makes things work well but, sometimes, having the date in the file name for TV shows confuses Plex. I know that should not be the case but it does seem to be fairly often and it is known that the folder name is more important to Plex than the file name.
