UK Channel Issues - 19 DAVE / 25 YESTDAY and other EPG issues

If it helps the attached with X are all Internet Channels and don’t work with HDHR.

@ScottSilverYou must be in the Manchester transmitter group? Because you have Pop Max, no one else in the UK has this now… Typical Freeview mentality!!

Dave

Tyne Tees area (Pontop Pike transmitter)

I weren’t far off!! Freeview itself is a mess though, I just wished there was a quad tuner satellite receiver out that would work on Plex, then I’ll be happy…

Dave

Pop Max says major town and cities only so makes sense. Hopefully they will sort it all out with all the Mux changes in the next couple of years.

Here’s hoping, but I doubt it, unless the BBC and the other broadcasters stop dual transmitting SD & HD and just go HD, this would give Freeview extra space to use.

I am sorry but it is not going to be an instant fix.

We investigate. Eliminate our end of processing. Refer to the provider after collating all relevant diagnostics. Provider investigates. Provider fixes the issue. The fixes go into operation. They get picked up by Plex and processed and then go into the live service.

I will let you know when I have information about the fix and then you can do a full guide refresh to pick the corrections

5USA has already been fixed.

So Paramount is definitely the provider? …is that Freeview themselves now?

cheers,
J.

This may be related to the issue of the EPG airings for Paramount being 1 hour out. If not, would need debug logs before and during and after recording

I am not sure but the issue with the timezone has been referred to our guide provider. For the other data issues, our provider only just started capturing program data for Paramount and so it would take a few days for the complete 14 day data to be what is intended to be there. We will then see if there are residual issues

It is possible that these were recently added channels to our providers channel list and so would take a number of days before 14 day data gets captured

@sa2000 - thanks. Who is the new provider?

So we lose Paramount at 11pm tonight (when the EGP starts to show only whole-day events) and it sounds like this will not be fixed before then.

Personally, I lose two TV shows that I have been trying to record all the episodes of for a while now,.

Are you aware of an XMLTV guide we can directly import for cover until this is fixed or do we just have to a sept it is broken?

If we know the time-slot of the episode, is there a way we can still record?

Thanks,
James.

In searching for an XMLTV feed, I discovered that OnTVTonight shows the exact same errors for 54 Paramount as Plex, (1 hour out, nothing after 11pm tonight), whilst Freeview shows the listing correctly. I contacted Freeview but they do not provide XMLTV feeds to the public.

Right now I am thinking that ROVI provides the info as they are the providers for OnTVTonight which show 2 of the 3 errors that Plex shows for 54 Paramount:
1] 1-hr out
2] nothing at all from tomorrow inwards

OnTVTonight does not show the “combining back-back episodes” error though which may (or may not) be a Plex interpretation issue.

@sa2000 just spotted you did this - Thanks!

Thanks

That does look similar to Plex data

I checked out for my region (Tyne Tees) and it also wrongly has London News…Doh

Not seeing any Season/Episode data, so couldnt check this

The thing I don’t get is that Paramount has been showing on OnTVTonight for a couple of months at least, so how can it be so badly wrong? I left a change request with them and they responded very quickly to me, but can only pass it on to ROVI and they used the phrase “next couple of days” to fix.

The same question goes to no-one spotting London News in Tyne/Tees; I can only assume that not many people have used this data (until now).

Looks very likely

If you go to the bottom of there epg page and select any region

Seems that BBC1 gets the regional name, but London listings
ITV just gets a ITV Network listing

Unless I am missing something fundamental can someone advise on why it would not be possible for Plex to default to the 7 day EPG that is broadcast with the channels - i.e. like a normal TV? I use VBox for Plex but I would have thought it should be technically possible to get this information.

While I can see that there could be confusion if there was different information it would be up to us to select either OTA data or Plex provided data. Of course this would reduce the EPG to 7 days but this would be much better than having no recordings.

It should also be considered that OTA data is often more up to date with last minute changes to scheduling compare to a 3rd party database.

Just a thought…
