UK Channel Issues - 19 DAVE / 25 YESTDAY and other EPG issues

The episodes are wrong and the genres have gone.

I can see 4 channels that are still providing incorrect timing information on (Freeview OTA)
019 Dave (correct scheduling, but 1 hour out)
079 Dave ja Vu (correct scheduling, but 1 hour out)
054 Paramount (no info at all)
105 Channel 5 HD (incorrect scheduling)

I use 19 channels in total, so that’s >25% error rate.

<rant>
I find it quite disturbing that Plex appears to think it is OK to roll this out with so may errors and then essentially rely on us to find, report and wait patiently (losing recordings) whilst they are fixed.

This is not the providers fault, this is Plex’s fault for using the provider without adequate testing.

I am happy to help, but this should have happened weeks ago before the cut-over.
<rant off>

Paramount looks good for me tonight  … Over 5 hours of brand new X-Files, hmmmmmm

I agree with your comments, I dont mind doing the forms if t’s the occasional issue, but most things i look at are wrong
I have reported issues with the soaps (UK & OZ), waiting to see if they get fixed before i report anymore issues

I find that Paramount air a truly epic 24 hour X-File single megasode every day!

My main issue here, is that I have lost a couple of episodes in the middle of a series such that the series will now be incomplete for ages (before they air again). Meanwhile I record some of these for my aged parents who have got used to Plex on their AppleTV (but not each and every catch-up service), so this is really frustrating for them as well.

J.

have you used the form?

My thinking is that a channel is either right or wrong; if it appears that only the odd episode is wrong, it’ll probably be because they are showing the right channel, but the wrong region. It took me ages to find this error with Channel 5 HD which looks OK most of the time and then the odd film is completely incorrect.

I did, these are ones i used the form for

It the S/E which are wrong

eg, Eastenders tonight, it airs 4 times/week (near enough) and each year is a new season
tonight is episode 22 according to Plex (22 would be mid Feb episode), similar with the OZ soaps
I dont watch them all the time, dip in and out, but glancing at the epg i could tell the data was wrong

not looked too closely at the Channel 5 films, but i couple i saw seem to get screwed up when they air the entertinment (5min) news update shows in the middle of it

And another day and the epg data is still a total mess

Tonight

Eastenders, BBC1, S35E23, should be S35E108
Still Game, BBC1, has S8E8, should be S9E2
The Nile, Channel 5, S1E1, should be S1E4
The Crystal Maze, Channel 4, S6E2, should be S6E3

And that is just looking at the first 4 channels between 8pm & 10pm

Yup. Sa2000 said it would be a few days before these fixes propagate through. …What I don’t get though is that, if the fixes are in, why can’t ROVI(?) manually refresh their feeds - why does it take >2 days to do that?

Unfortunately for me, NextPVR (which is only in beta for Mac but potentially awesome) is currently a little hit-and-miss for me. I am now thinking of just dumping the 5 seasons where I now have a string of missing episodes in the middle which I won’t be able to get back now, ugh.

Sorry to hear that, thats why i generally dont like recommending things, the experience can vary so much from one person to another

Be nice to get an update from Plex on the status of the EPG, initially it was uspposed to be fixed a week ago, but there are still issues

Are they actively looking at things and fixing them, if so i can wait
Are they just waiting for people to report issues and then fix them, if so i will abandon Plex DVR

It’s just too common a theme, make some changes, initially provide feedback that things are being looked into, then just abandon them

no worries - it’s working some of the time and that is more than nothing
I am going to stick with it as I think it’ll be great when out of beta.
It’s a shame that we cannot use Schedules Direct as the EPG guide for Plex.

@sa2000 I know that Paramount jas been acknowledged, but have the others?

J.

@sa2000 - Do they acknowledge the fact that we have had no data at all on paramount for the last 2 days? …no point fixing the 1 hour error if nothing is being provided at all.

thanks,
J.

@sa2000 Hi, sorry to be the giver of bad news, but we’re over 3 days and Paramount is still showing “Radio Programming” Will this be fixed over the next 24 hours? I still have TVHeadend installed and Antenna’s but not running at present as a backup for the EPG, there are a couple of other channels that are showing Unknown or TBA also.

Dave

all of these channels are still wrong…

019 Dave (correct scheduling, but 1 hour out)
079 Dave ja Vu (correct scheduling, but 1 hour out)
054 Paramount (no info at all)
105 Channel 5 HD (incorrect scheduling at some times eg: 9pm Sat)

…and it’s been over a week since the new EPG rolled out…

@sa2000 It’s been over 3 days, when will we see the programme guide info for channels return??

Dave

I still have:
033 ITV1+1 “To be announced”

@DavidAndAndrea Almost the same channels I’ve got issues with except ITV Network really needs to be ITV Wales as the London guide is totally wrong as setting the DVR to record is a no go for some shows that’s locally transmitted…
I do hope it’ll be fixed soon? Or I could always try Tvheadend again with antennas to grab the OTA guide… See what this week brings?

Dave

@mw0dcmplex @DavidAndAndrea. …quite a few more channels then (I only use 19 with Plex).

If you don’t mind a web interface, it’s easy to download TV and Radio from ITV Hub and BBCi using Get-iPlayer. If you are on a Mac, you can use a fantastic app called get iPlayer Automator (which is both Get-iPlayer and an app interface. It’s really easy and you just copy the downloads into you Plex media folder. Advantages include, not needing HDHomerun etc), no adverts on ITV and BBCI is 720p (except for very old shows).

I tweeted Plex as to the general state of this after 7 days, but no response so far. I can only surmise that, as not many people appear to be complaining on the forums, either UK Plex Pass users are unaware of this problem or there are simply not many of us - which also means we will not be a priority against other topics :frowning:

@sa2000 I appreciate that you are caught in the middle of this, but an update would be appreciated.

And those that have just about given up on plex DVR

It just seems pointless mentioning it on the forum and filling in the forms, the issues just dont get fixed
It’s almost 2 weeks since the beta first came out and the basics still arent fixed

Yup, all good points.

The apparent lack of focus and resolve to solve this expediently (without the users having to find the faults themselves), speaks volumes about their view of us as paying customers.

I’ll give get iPlayer a miss, it’s pointless using 3rd party apps, other than Tvheadend which grabs the OTA EPG a little more better than Plex does at present, and puts all the channels in to.

Let’s see what @sa2000 has to add to the EPG issues that haven’t been fixed after a week!!
