With regards to the JSON Parse Errors, Gracenote are continuing with their investigation. There is no update to share yet
The JSON Parse Error issue where the response contains error 403 Forbidden should be fixed now.
Additionally Plex Media Server beta 1.14.0.5465 has retries for failed requests to fetch the guide - so that in itself would have helped whilst the issue was there
Please do manual update to the guide and once that completes ok, then incremental updates would ensure the guide remains up to date
If problems persist, please provide fresh logs from the server with debug logging enabled beforehand and also a zip of the Diagnostics directory which is within the Plex Media Server data area

@sa2000 The issue seems to be resolved in all channels except BBC1 HD - which still has the “To Be Announced” issue from 6.00am Saturday 24th November.
I have attached PMS Logs. TPlex Media Server Logs_2018-11-16_15-56-03.zip (4.6 MB)
here are no files in the Diagnostics directory
My last investigation into the news episodes that were all marked as To Be Announced showed that was the case for some episodes for period 17th November onwards and that it was the Guide Data that had it set as such and not Plex. My thought was that the guide data would get amended nearer the time
So the question now is where these that were showing have now been adjusted - snapshot here as it was 5 days ago
It is very possible that the details for some news items do not get filled in till closer the date. If all those in the above extract are still To Be Announced then will see if i can refer such issues to our metadata provider.
As you advised - I did a manual reload. As a result all the channels did appear to be working correctly, including BBC 2 HD which has been a stubborn failing channel. However, BBC 1 HD appears to be still suffering from the same problem.
I will look to see if the issue improves tomorrow but I have my doubts as it as all the hallmarks of previous problems such as failing at 6.00am.
I need an answer to my question about the episodes in the excel spreadsheet view i posted - did those titles change? Because we did check the actual guide data and there were still To Be Announced then.
Send me a new db and i will check the guide data against what is in the db. I think we will find that it is set that way in the guide data.
Do you have any showing To Be Announced for today or tomorrow?
As I recall None of them changed. Following a manual refresh the EPG has always given 8 days of complete data. It’s 6.00 am on the 9th day that problems started. Currently the EPG is showing data for all channels beyond the 9th day except BBC HD 1.
I will see if that position changes in the morning.
I will message you the current dab.
They did change
The database from Friday does show all these that were TBA’s got filled as we got closer to the dates
How they were on 12th November
and they did get filled -
and this was the position Friday 16th evening
So all TBAs for these replaced by actuals. I like to know if you ran a manual refresh on the 15th and at what time.
Friday evening db does show new future program TBAs - I need to establish if they would eventually correct themselves as we get closer to the date and if the default incremental updates make that correction. They should if the raw EPG data gets corrected
These are the TBAs at the moment (sorted by channel this time)
I would like see logs for next incremental refreshes and a new copy of the dB after today’s or tomorrow morning’s automatic incremental refresh to see if the data got corrected
Also would like a zip of the Diagnostics directory within the Plex Media Server App data
Suggest you run with increased number of log files eg 40 to make sure logs capture a number of refreshes
See LogNumFiles setting - https://support.plex.tv/articles/201105343-advanced-hidden-server-settings/
By the way the reason the new list of TBAs is larger than the original, is because my original list was not complete and only picked some !
I did run a manual refresh on Thursday afternoon. Which resulted, as expected, with most of the TBAs disappearing. Prior to that there appeared to be no updating of the TBAs. So data was available but wasn’t getting added with the automatic refreshes.
It is interesting that BBC 2 HD is no longer appearing in the TBA list. It would appear that this channel has been fixed but the BBC1 HD remains an issue. I suspect the few ITV instance will be fixed with an automatic refresh.
I will send you the logs and DB tomorrow after the overnight refresh.
@sa2000 BBC1 HD continues to fail from 6:00am Saturday 24th November. Scrolling forward I have noticed that BBC 2 HD now also is starting to fail from 6:00am Tuesday 27th November.
I have attached logsPlex Media Server Logs_2018-11-18_15-24-30.zip (4.8 MB)
@sa2000 I carried out a manual refresh at 15:31. This has resulted in the EPG being complete until 6:00am Saturday 1st December - which may in fact be the extent of the published data. All channels are complete without any TBAs.
Does PMS carry out automatic refreshes at predefined times or every 6 hours from the time of the Manual refresh?

Ok so the evidence you are providing me is that incremental refresh does not correct the TBA’s but a manual refresh does . I will look at the evidence tonight / tomorrow - I presume we have logs after today’s incremental and the dB and also later after the manual refresh
It appears to be working as designed with the incremental updates which happen every 4 hours only address the immediate period (next 12 hours or so) and extend the end by xx hours to ensure we get to Day + 14
I will be raising a request to the development team to see if we can force a full refresh in some circumstances
The manual full refresh advised here after the JSON Parse Error issue was fixed should have resolved the To Be Announced entries - may be at that time some source data was wrong and incomplete and it only got corrected after the 15th
@sa2000 since the manual refresh no further programs have been added through automatic refreshes except for Ch 5 HD which is fully populated, the rest being TBA.
However, from 10:00am 3rd December program details start to appear in some channels.
I don’t know if you want any logs/database records. It appears that a Manual Refresh fills the EPG with 2 weeks of data but then the updates fail to consistently add the daily data to the EPG.
Have you managed to replicate this?
I am looking into it. I put your database in a test environment with just 2 of your channel and i can see what is happening with BBC1LDH 101 and BBCPARL 231 - which are the two i setup for testing
Some data for the 1st December appears to be still showing To Be Announced
So i think the issue is that the metadata provider is late in correcting these TBAs and end up outside the incremental time window that Plex Media Server is looking for.
I will add it to the other discussion I am having with the development team
These were still TBA in the raw Guide data from our provider when i checked a few hours ago
Took me a while to collate the diagnostics for this to refer to the development
I have now raised it as an enhancement to the incremental Guide update process to cope with delays in the availability of guide data for some channels
Thanks for your help in providing all the evidence
@sa2000. Have you managed to make any progress with this issue? The TBAs are still appearing so I am I still having to do a weekly manual refresh of the EPG.
It is with the development team and there are plans to make changes - i have no indication of when that would be. I will give it a bump
