Unable t create libraries

Server Version#:Synology 1.23.4.4805-186bae04
Player Version#:not sure how to find out.
Under Plex Web—General (the menu on the left) I cannot create and control libraries anymore. Cannot force rescans of those libraries either… OS=windows10

Mind sharing some more details?
Where exactly are you trying to create a new library? Do existing libraries no longer offer any context menu ()?

I used to be able to customize my libraries in the left section of the interface. It was the only way to force rescan of new files.

Now it prompts me to get a new server but its already running on Synology..I cannot create new libraries and bind them to NAS directories.

Still not sure under what circumstances you’re experiencing this issue.
Here’s a few common situations that can result in such a problem:

  1. If this is a newly installed server… make sure to access it through its local IP address (e.g. http://[NAS IP address]:32400/web) in order to complete the setup process.

  2. If you recently reset your password and in the process opted to sign-out all devices?
That’ll also unlink your server from your account (=signing it out)… in that case you should be able to re-claim it under Settings > [Server Name] > General.

  3. You can also experience this if you’re trying to access your server using a separate Plex account of yours than the one that’s linked to your server.

This is not a new install. I had to troubleshoot it and had to sign out in the process. I’m using Plex with my LG TV. It is linked to my google account. I’m trying to make sure my TV media categories (home/movies) are pointing to correct NAS folders and i see no such option. I am still using direct local IP. How do I get to Settings > [Server Name] > General? Can you please post a screenshot? Can you please also elaborate on possibility of using separate Plex account - I’m using google account on my LG TV as well as web interface.

It looks like there’s some mix-up between the account linked to your Plex Media Server and the sign-in via Google. This results in your server not recognizing your Plex account as the same as the admin-account and therefore won’t let you access the server and server settings.

You can attempt to force your server to forget the account it’s currently linked with and subsequently re-link it.

This change seems too advance for me, I dont understand it. My server is running on Synology NAS device and I need to find Preferences.xml file to take a backup , but I have no idea where its located. Also for that same reason there is nothing Plex related in the registry of a local Windows PC: there is no HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Plex, Inc.

I dont want to reinstall entire server-it might not work at all afterwards,

The Registry doesn’t apply to a server on your Synology. Sorry, I didn’t remember reading about Synology in your first post but stuck with the Windows Server mentioned in the thread tags.

What version of Synology’s DSM do you have installed on your NAS? Is that still DSM 6?

DSM6, yessir

First… make sure you tested accessing your server through the bundled version of Plex Web – use the NAS’ local IP address (no host names, no quick connect address).

If that’s still not working you can try the following procedure:

The Plex Share described in this procedure is hidden by default. To see it, follow the 1st set of steps from this guide (“… to make it visible”):

After going through FAQs I stumbled across the fact that the server wasnt claimed. I’m trying to fix it now-updating metadata,

Now my auto-login on LGTV doesnt seem to work . I completely logged out and logged back in with the code - now it keeps asking me for a PIN, even though i checked the Automatically Sign In box

That box only refers to the browser version.
If you want your LG webOS client to automatically sign in to a specific account, check for that option on the Plex for LG client.

Thanks a lot. I found it.
Changing subject: were you ever able to make Plex play DVD format videos, my Plex just doesnt see them

I tried different tutorials - none worked., just says No Content.

Plex ignores raw DVD / Blu-Ray backup folders or disk images.

If you want to keep not only the main movie but also some of the extras, you can add all of those as local extras to your movie file.

Would you happen to know why I’m getting “No Content” on some avi and mkv files?

What do you mean by “No Content”? Plex won’t find your files and shows the library as empty (“No Content”)?

If so… the most likely culprit is bad file naming.

These 2 directories are giving me No Content when I navigate to them with my LGTV . Should I rename files using special naming convention?

I can play the files manually with Vlc but Plex gui cannot see it:

Also I cannot rename the files - something is locking them .

Torrent client is currently NOT running.

You need to stick with the naming schema – at the very least don’t mix tv-shows with movies. As per the support article about why Plex might ignore some files: Plex will ignore files named in accordance with a tv-show naming schema in movie libraries and it’ll ignore files missing that tv-show schema in tv-show libraries.
