Hi,
I wonder if someone has experience from update plex manually on a Qnap nas.
Should i remove the Plex app from the appcenter and reinstall it? Would i not lose all my plex server settings then?
Best regards, Mikael

Just download the qpkg and use the steps from https://community.symform.com/entries/36714156-QNAP-Manual-software-installation-or-updateto install it manually. Don't uninstall it as you'll lose all your settings.

It's all outlined in the FAQ

A follow-on question (that isn't covered in the FAQ) - do I turn off Plex before updating, or is it better to install on top of a running Plex server? (I've always turned it off first, but it takes days to rescan, so I'd like to avoid turning it off if it works.)

There's no need to turn it off, and I guess you meant uninstall here, due to the "it takes days to rescan" statement, and that's not a good idea (Q6 in the FAQ)

Thanks, now I know to not bother next time.
I did mean turn off, but a Plex re-scan may not be the problem. You triggered a second look and it's 'ufsd_sdq' that is using all the CPU. The CPU suck started when I reinstalled, but that may just be cooincidence. I'm going to just restart the NAS.
Hey folks,
Have a qnap tvs873. Been trying to download the new qpkg for PMS however regardless of workstation (work, home, wife’s, friends) the intel 64bit doesn’t download rather it just shows a page within IE (edge or IE 11) that has code on it or it freezes and stops responding. Other packages in the download area are no problem. What am I doing wrong? Many thanks!!
Having the same issue as @abarak. Just sent off an email to Qnap Support. I have the Qnap TS873.
