Hi
All my libraries have been originally configured in english, but now I need (children !) to get information in french (title / summary).
So I changed theses settings for my movie library :
- Agent : Plex movie
- Localized titles : Check
- Country : France
And then I select “Refresh all” in the Library, but information are still in english.
Yet, if I add a new movie, these setting works (I get the summary and title in french, and the original title in english).
So, how could I easily update all my existing library ?
Did you previously use TheMovieDatabase as your default agent?
If so, do the following:
Settings - Server - Agents - Movies - TheMovieDatabase
put a checkmark on the line ‘Plex Movie’
move the line ‘Plex Movie’ upwards, so it sits above of ‘TheMovieDatabase’
Then try to Refresh one of the “old” movies.
Thank you for the answer, but unfortunately it doesn’t work.
I even try to move “plex movie”, alone, on top of the agents for Plex Movie and The Movie Database, but it still doesn’t get the french data when I making a Full refresh
May I see the Plex XML info of one of the affected movies?
You may try to clear the cache for the involved metadata agents.

imdb, themoviedb
I attached XML files for The Aristocats,
- “-EN” is how movie is seen on my library,
- “-FR” is after “Fix Incorrect Match” (“Les Aristochats”).
I also cleared the cache and tried to make a new “'Refresh All” but I still doesn’t get french data
the EN version: guid="com.plexapp.agents.imdb://tt0065421?lang=en"
the FR version: guid="com.plexapp.agents.imdb://tt0065421?lang=fr"
Notice the language code at the end?
The language code is stored with every movie that is already in your library.
To change that you need indeed to perform the ‘Fix incorrect Match’ procedure or Plex Dance the movie(s) or delete the library and create it new from scratch.
The two lines above tell us also, that you used Freebase/Plex Movie as your default agent - which is good.
It means your ‘watched/unwatched’ states will survive even a deletion and re-creation of the movie library.
Theoretically, it should be possible to edit your Plex database directly. But I never did that and I don’t know where the language information is stored.
I will ask someone about that.
I "Danced’ one of the library (animation), and it mostly worked (I still had to manually rematch some movies).
I also try that on my main movie library but it failed, so I decided to completely delete it and create it from scratch (and I should now make some corrections ;)).
So to simply answer, it’s not possible to “just translate” data. You must “plex dance” or recreate the library
Thank you
