xbox one "server is offline or unreachable"

Ever since the server updates from about 2 weeks ago the xbox one app has been the pits. I had to uninstall everything and reinstall just to get it to work. I’ve managed to get the xbox one app to access my local server but I can’t get it to access a friend’s server that is shared with me. If I go to settings and then media server status, it can see there’s a shared server but it just says “this server is offline or unreachable”. Yet I can access that server through any other device in my house.

Could it be the fact that the xbox one app cannot connect to “indirect servers”? Follow up question, why would my friend’s server be an “indirect connection”? From googling around it seems maybe it has something to do with my router not supporting UPnP but I don’t want to go and buy a new router if this won’t fix the problem.

Am I the only one that has had Plex completely fall apart in the last 2 weeks since the server updates? It was working fine on everything for the last 2 years and now it’s terrible. Constant crashing, some times won’t load content, some times won’t stream to chromecast, etc, etc

I get the same error.
I can access my plex server on my Phone but not on the xbox.

Worked fine before the upgrade.
What did yo uninstall… I uninstalled the Xbox app and still no go.

Do I have to uninstall the Plex server ???

This is really frustrating, Not getting plex pass again until this is working

I have the same issue. I just got an Xbox One, so I can’t confirm it worked before any upgrades. That said, I can access the server on my Android TV, Roku, and Xbox 360 devices.

I assumed it had to do with my Xbox Live / Plex account issue I posted in another thread, but maybe not since others are having the same issue?

BTW - This is yet another thread that is marked as “answered,” yet I don’t see the answer. Is this the norm around here?

i have to go into settings and change allow insecure connections to allow on same network then it works for me.

Is that in the Plex server webpage or on the xbox one?

Yeah I uninstalled plex from my computer as well as the app on all my devices so basically I deleted plex from my house and then reinstalled it all. Luckily you don’t have to set the server back up because it’s all saved against your username.
