Xbox Stutter and Crash

Not on wifi here and I can get this to happen consistently with TV episode MKVs. The Xbox One is crashing hard - is there a way to send a system crash dump?

As Dom C posted earlier they would need your console id, time of problem, and details of what you were trying to play to forward on to Microsoft.

If you post the Plex Media Server.log file then the Developers can try and see if something in the transcoded stream is specifically causing an issue they can try and work around.

But the only people that have access to the system crash files are Microsoft.

Same problem here. Over Wifi, ~5Mbit/s mkv file, 1080p, h264 high profile. Going to post the PMS logs next time it happens.

I’m in the xbox preview program and reported this issue with the feedback app on the console directly after the crash/reboot countless times…

I can’t view any mkv files of any kind now. It has seemed to spread. Sucks using Apple TV cast and I guess I need to use my fire stick. But all are slow in comparison to the Xbox. Just highly unfortunate that for weeks now this is going on and there seems to be no fix in sight for this issue.

Just has to be an update but it doesn’t matter what Xbox it is, wireless with mkv it crashes it. I’ve tested this on 8 consoles and they’re all crashing constantly. It’s not a specific console issue but a player issue with the most recent update. It should be easy for the devs to test and replicate this issue. 1080p 5.1 mkv compressed files.

I’m pooling together my logs but in posting here my faith is dwindling as there hasn’t been a formal post here and I feel everyone is frustrated with this as it drastically harms our viewing experience. I hate using inferior players in my eyes.

Dom C posted in this very thread about the issue.  If like you said it was indeed something that happened with a console update it is something that Microsoft would need to look into what about the video stream their video player isn't liking.  Which is also why Dom C requested Console ID's, time of crash, information about the media, and log files so they can forward the information to Microsoft and also see if there is something they can try and work around to get it working in the mean time.

It isn't something that is easily reproducible I have tried MKV's ranging from a TV Show at 1.5Mbps with 2 channel aac to a full Bluray Rip at 40Mbps with DTS-MA all playing with no issues.  This is the reason that the developers requested the logs so they can see what your server is sending the Xbox to see if it was something that can be found triggering the crash.

Good to know you’re having success with some. All my 1080p AAC 5.1 will crash.

I’m collecting all the data currently and will get the information when I have all he data to send in.

I have a work around (not using Xbox) but obviously this is temp solution.

Thanks again for the knowledge and your experiences

If you have the case where all your media crashes the Xbox everytime, could you please send me a sample that does this? I'd love to get my hands on something that produces the problem on our devkits.

Thanks!

Dom I have sent you a PM with my xbox console id for troubleshooting.

Would just like to report that I've been having the same issue for about the last 2 weeks...could be longer.  While trying to stream some TV or Movie media from my Plex Server to my Xbox One, after a couple of minutes the video will stutter quickly and then freeze while the audio plays for maybe another 5-10 seconds...then the whole Xbox One crashes.  After I reboot the Xbox if I try to play the same file again through Plex, the console will crash again just like before.  I hope the upcoming update to the Plex App on Xbox One can fix this!  However, I feel as if one of the most recent Xbox system updates is what is causing this problem since Plex had been running fine with all my media up until recently.

Since it sounds like you are able to reproduce this, I am sure the developers would love to see your Plex Media Server.log and the Media Info for the offending file.

The absolute best thing would be if you could create a sample file that reproduces the issues so the developers can break their own consoles and get first hand experience with it. (With this your Log and Media Info would still be helpful in case the sample isn't crashing their consoles)

I can't be sure yet, but since I updated my xbox to the current preview program release, I think this issue is resolved (sortof). Every now and then I will still see the video freeze up (and i think its going to crash like it usually does) but then it seems to unstick. Its only been 2 days since I updated but I haven't had one crash in that time, just wanted to keep everyone updated

Well my router just died last night. I went with a new brand (Asus AC1750) and thought everything might be good. I made it halfway through my show and bam, shutdown again. It's so annoying.
