XML missing metadata for some shows

Server Version#:1.21.0.3711
Player Version#:4.43.4

This is using a NAS (NFS) with a WD 1TB SSD as repository. I am using RPi 4 with 4GB mem for both NAS and Plex Server.

I have a problem with the XML also. The ‘media’ and most of the ‘Part’ are missing. It affects shows for full seasons on series but not all seasons. Those that work/don’t work are:

All seasons of Friends don’t work
First 7 seasons of Seinfeld work last 2 don’t
First 3 seasons of Home Improvement work next two don’t.

Attached are my logs and screen shots. The first two are those from an episode that doesn’t work.

Hey man I saw you reply on my post and after trying seemingly everything else, updating to the new TV Show scanner preview seems to have fixed my problem, the scanner (far as I can tell so far) works well and matched all my problem content! Happy Holidays to ya!!

Thanks, King

I have also tried everything but unfortunately I go to the create library > advanced and I don’t see the selections in the link below. The only options for the agent are TheTVDB, Personal Media Shows, and The Movie Database. The generated Plex Media Server.app brings up the PMS in localhost:32400 as indicated in the document. I do not see the scanner at all. Followed the instructions in https://forums.plex.tv/t/new-plex-media-server-tv-show-series-scanner-and-agent-preview/665778 and downloaded the MacOS version. All seemed well until I tried to create a new library. I think for some reason I am not in the new scanner/agent.

What am I doing wrong? If you could help me with this I will be forever grateful. I have wasted a couple of days on this and it appears others have also.

Thanks for the reply.

Hmmm I don’t have much experience on Mac, but when I went to add a new TV library the advanced page appeared like this:

I would try stopping and restarting PLEX (the service) or if not restarting the host machine altogether and seeing if that makes any changes.

Hey King,

I am still seeing the old version. I am guessing that I am just downloading but not installing. I saw another post that said

do just as it says.

  1. Download
  2. Manual install directly on top of the old (higher version upgrades are done this way).

I don’t overwrite your Plex share when the installer runs

If you must / wish to downgrade, uninstall the package. The data and code are separate. This is how I overcame the Synology limitation. Your data (Library) is safe.

I have no idea what its saying but it can’t be that difficult to do. I am a 30 year IT person but my experience in Linux is non-existent. I think my problem is manually installing directly on top of the old

I downloaded plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5_armhf.deb when using please install manually and when I double click on it I get plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5_armhf

after that I think I’m lost. I guess somewhere along the line I need to install on my Raspberry pi, Yes?

I’m not sure of the process for updating PLEX on MacOS, but I would follow your regular process for updating PLEX and that should install the new version. As to installing PLEX on your Raspberry Pi that is an option although if your more comfortable working on MacOS I would stick with that. Please keep me posted on your progress.

My PMS is on an RPi as I indicated on the original post and I need to update the PMS on there and am somewhat comfortable with it as I have many RPIs at this time just using the mac or other IOS to view. I have been searching around for a Raspbian/Debian version of the package.

On the Plex site I am seeing

for

I tried the correct Ubuntu/Debian (armhf/arm64) versions to no avail with dpkg (error: is not a debian format archive)

pi@plex:~ $ sudo dpkg -i plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5_arm64.deb
dpkg-deb: error: ‘plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5_arm64.deb’ is not a Debian format archive
dpkg: error processing archive plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5_arm64.deb (–install):
dpkg-deb --control subprocess returned error exit status 2
Errors were encountered while processing:
plexmediaserver_1.21.1.3830-6c22540d5_arm64.deb

I am sure that I can get it with the appropriate wget but sadly I am not sure how to put it together so for now I am downloading on my Mac and transferring to the RPi but obviously not with success.

Hi King

I found this (changing the names)

Followed it and received Installation complete resulting with this:

I even removed and reinstalled and the same thing (it installed as 1.21.1.3830).

So I thought I was home free. When I created a new library and added a folder the advanced looked exactly the same, how disappointing. I seem to be getting closer. Now do you have any ideas?

The only thing I can think of is to check if the agent appears in your settings, you can find it at Settings-Agents-Shows. If it does not appear there then sadly friend I can’t think of any reason as to why it wouldn’t :C

Sadly, here is what I see at that location

Just last night I loaded the experimental 1.21.2.3841 and lo and behold the selection for scanner and agent showed up in advanced. I thought I was all set but no go, nothing changed. The only difference was a thumbnail showed up for a series (but no working episodes) and the tools icon disappeared. I am working with a couple of plex pass guys so I hope we can get it working.

I will let you know how I make out.
