My libraries are using the latest and greatest scanner option. In the case of TV series, the Plex TV Series Agent. And while it’s much faster at scanning and getting metadata" it could be because it skips some steps. Like automatically downloading subtitles.
Say I have a series like Guiding Light (~18.000 episodes) or even something more realistic like The Simpsons (700 episodes). The previous scanner agents would automatically download subtitles from OpenSubtitles. The Plex TV Series agent does no such thing or at least not in any way I could find. I was just pushed into upgrading my libraries by the annoying “upgrade to get a better experience” permanent notification and now I’m stuck with downloading subtitles manually for each individual episode.
Is there any way to configure the 1+ year old Plex TV Series agent to actually download subtitles automatically? The few seconds it save by “downloading metadata faster” when this happens in the background or over night pale in comparison with having to set a manual subtitle at the start of every single episode in the library, especially when sometimes it’s a person less inclined to play with the remote until they get it right.

It’s discouraging to see that users don’t get a single answer despite being paying customers.
