Autoplay freezing on next episode after latest player update

Right here in the forums, supposedly. Unfortunately, the issue has been totally ignored in favor of things like adding retro games to Plex. Something nobody, absolutely nobody at all, asked for.

plex now has a few bugs that will not be fixed. it’s disappointing. It used to be a very good program. But the main thing is new features

I’ve been experiencing this issue for many months now too. Sony Bravia Android TV. Every, single, time, that Plex tries to auto play a next episode it just goes to a black screen and 90% of the time gets stuck there. Occasionally it will stay on the black screen for like 30 seconds and then start playing, but it’s REALLY jerky (like 0.5 FPS) for like 15 seconds and then it starts playing normally at full speed. Pushing the play button does nothing when it’s fully stuck. The only way to get it to play is to back out to the main screen, select the show again, and manually play the next episode. I’ve tried completely uninstalling and reinstalling the Plex app on the TV, AND I even uninstalled and reinstalled the actual Plex server thinking maybe that would help. It did not. It’s definitely not a network issue as everything is connected via 1Gbps Ethernet (tested with iperf).

Still not fixed… Not even an update or any indication that we are even taken seriously. Plex just doesn’t care about its paying(!) users.

why is this problem so ignored. The error does occur more often. the app has at least got a design change again. :wink: but fix the real bugs. no chance!! that’s how you annoy the user. how do the developers set the priorities.

CAN WE PLEASE GET THIS FIXED?!?!? This is insane. I can’t keep a show running while I’m working. it’s horrible!

They are still working on it. I see edits and comments on the bug report as recent as yesterday. Looks like they might have figured something out and are merging into a beta/alpha soon for testing.

I’ve also been seeing this on my sony xbr900e. Definitely reducing the girlfriend acceptance factor of Plex.

I’m also seeing this issue on ATT TV box. I’ll keep an eye on this thread for updates.

Nvidia Shield User here, got the same issue. Itā€˜s a shame to pay for plex pass and got such a bad support in return…

We’re at like 14 months with this issue, why is it taking so long? Its at the point where if I want to watch a series I have to use VLC player to auto play the next episode…vlc is free, so what the heck am I paying for Plex for?
