Autoplay freezing on next episode after latest player update

it got added to aptoide if u still want to try it.
plex may have a newer version with another buildnumber and the old one got removed as we r a few days too late.

The problem should be fixed on the latest beta (v8.26) you can find them on our beta release notes thread; Release Announcements - Android TV beta - #484 by sixones

If that doesnt solve the issue for you, you can try this build which applies a fix for Google TV devices to all devices: https://artifacts.plex.tv/android-experimental/8.27.0.29135-71a6d4f5/PlexForAndroid-8.27.0.29135-71a6d4f5-Armv7aGooglePlayStdExo.apk

The Google vs Amazon part of the build doesn’t matter for TV devices as we don’t use the billing platforms on TV.

Heya,
The google version of the beta ( ā€œkepler-armv7a-googlePlay-stdExo-8.26.0.29143-309050ad.apkā€ ) can be installed, but not started on my firetv stick 4k max. it shows the intro animation and crashes.
i tried reinstalling 2 times with cache/data delete. so i guess there i some dependecy somewhere.
the armv8 cannot be installed. so the amazon/fireos version is left.

This version installs and starts fine ā€œkepler-armv7a-amazon-fireExo-8.26.0.29143-309050ad.apkā€.

After a few epiodes (2-3) it stopped the autoplay again and shows the black screen (last frame of the episode) and the play timer goes in negative time.

Logs send by PM to bigwheel in previous chat and i added u.

Im trying the nigthly version now which i got form modifing ur link: https://artifacts.plex.tv/android-experimental/8.27.0.29135-71a6d4f5/PlexForAndroid-8.27.0.29135-71a6d4f5-Armv7aAmazonFireExo.apk

Tested the FireOS Beta (8.26) and am seeing the same behavior with HEVC files (plays first one, no subsequent ones though).

Tried installing the Google one from your post and it crashes on start up like with @ReloxX.

Will try the version ReloxX provided next.

Huzzah! This version works from initial testing on my FireTV 4k Stick:

https://artifacts.plex.tv/android-experimental/8.27.0.29135-71a6d4f5/PlexForAndroid-8.27.0.29135-71a6d4f5-Armv7aAmazonFireExo.apk

Tried multiple files from multiple TV shows, including ones that didn’t work with the 8.26 beta. Looking good so far, will do further testing across a few more FireTV sticks to verify.

Update - Verified it fixes the issue on a second FireTV 4k stick

how and when do you get the version on the Android TV. I still have 8.25

This will take a few weeks as its on nigthly/8.27 currently. 8.26 coming first.

8.26 got released right now, unsure if the fix from nightly is included.
changelog says
ā€œPlayer: stop media session when playback ends.ā€.

with 8.26 does not solve the problem

I checked this morning and my TCL Android tv still just sits at the end of playing every episode. I went in to check the version and it’s 8.26.2.29389 . Is there something specific I need to do?

My Insignia 4k Fire TV still has the issue with the latest update. Version 8.26.2
The shows will autoplay the next video after the first one, but any shows after that it just gets stuck counting into negative time…

Fire OS ver 6.2.8.6
Insignia_NS-58DF620NA20

on the pc app on the same machine as the server i have to restart plex player after every episode because the video will freeze up but still get audio, been doing it for the past week or so, its also on win11.

also the app will just freeze up straight away after restarting sometimes

Sweet jeebus! Looks like the new beta builds are working superb, tested and autoplay issue is non existent now. The avatars icons and pics of actors still don’t work, but kudos Plex! The longstanding issue seems resolved in the 8.27 builds. Btw I am using 8.27.0.29730-beta FYI, I am using the Fire TV build.

I am seeing this issue (finally) resolved on a Sony (Bravia) Android TV in the 8.27.0 beta build as well. Had a few false starts on the preliminary episode playback, but auto-play of the next episode does seem to be working. This has been broken so long, I’m conflicted about whether I should feel grateful, but I am happy it appears to be fixed and I do thank the team for the effort (better late than never).

I’m getting the exact same thing, also win11

found the issue for me atleast on pc app had to turn off hardware decoding under settings/player even after switching back to windows 10

I can report this issue as unresolved and has been for the last year.

I have an Insignia 4K 50ā€ FireTV model INSIGNIA_NS-50DF710NA19 with FireOS 6.2.8.6 and Plex Version 8.26.2.29389 I have a FireTV 4K Stick on another tv that does not do this, only on my insignia.

The autoplay playback issues seems resolved in the latest release on Amazon store. HOWEVER, I am noting that the images for users avatars and the cast images for movies, tv shows and other libraries does not show up, good work fixing a long standing player issue, but the images would be a nice fix for future releases.
