[BUG]: no audio (Dolby TrueHD/Atmos) when resuming a movie after pause (Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019)

Version (Client): Android 7.30.0.16248-beta
PMS: 1.18.7.2457
Device: Nvidia Shield TV Pro 2019

Bug report:
Just noticed that when play a Dolby TrueHD/Atmos movie and press play after I hit pause, the movie resumes without audio.
This only happens with Dolby TrueHD/Atmos… DTS-HD-MA works.

Can someone else (maybe someone of the developers e.g. @romancamelia or my friend @KCX ) try to replicate this issue? Any samples needed?

Thank you! I appreciate your efforts

I also have the same issue on my Nvidia Shield TV (2019 Tube).

If you pause, fast forward, or rewind on a TrueHD/Atmos track, the audio will either drop out completely or become out of sync. This is only with the Dolby track, it does not happen with DTS:X or HD-MA tracks.

I usually stop the video, then restart and resume where it left off which seems to solve the problem.

Can you provide the codec info for one of your files so I can try to find a similar one to test with? i cannot reproduce with the trueHD files that I have.

Thank you for paying attention to this issue.

If you need something else, please let me know!!

Can you try both the old and new player in Android, and tell me if it happens on both. Also curious if the sound never comes back, or if it comes back after a few seconds. I see an audio dropout with passthrough enabled, but it comes back after a few seconds.

Edit: Some client and server logs would also be super useful if you reproduce this. :slightly_smiling_face:

Dear @DaveBinM and @BigWheel
thank you very much for paying attention and beeing responsive.

As requested, here is the log from a Dolby TrueHD/Atmos movie:
logfile_toby_new.txt (1.1 MB)

More Details:

  1. Pressing Pause
  2. Pressing Play to resume
  3. Sound does not come back (waited for more than 15 secs)
  4. Passthrough is enabled (disabling usually causes transcoding… in case of 4k HDR movies not acceptable)

For the present logfile, I first used the new Exoplayer and than the old player. Same behaviour for both players.

Please tell me if you need anything else to solve this issue.
Many Thanks

any news from the devs?

Working on it along with some other bugs. unfortunately do not have an ETA for a fix

Did you already had some time to look into it?

Plex Android TV is currently unusable for me. I am also affected by this.

I currently only use Kodi. Everything works perfectly (except Dolby Vision)
