Cant connect to Plex outside local network

Yes, looks like. I tried to play something which works fine and not relayed.

Of course. They are two different hosts:

Nothing nefarious here.

For those wanting to check if you can connect to plex.tv, you only need ONE test

one time is enough

[chuck@lizum tmp.2018]$ curl https://plex.tv
<html><body>You are being <a href="https://www.plex.tv/">redirected</a>.</body></html>
[chuck@lizum tmp.2019]$

If you get the redirect, you’re talking to it successfully.

Alternate method: Open ‘https://plex.tv’ in the browser.

Well … i dont really care by now tbh … fix the darn service, tired of all the errors, stop putting in all kindda useless stuff into the service, or make a “classic” server version, back to where we threw money at plexpass´s and not all this game and live tv and what not nonsense - short: back to when it WORK for more than 48h before next problem.

No need to reply, read, read again, and then read it more, and send it up to team, thanks

Hong Kong Broadband Network.

I have a 1gb fiber connection which has happily been running now for a couple of years without fault.

at least for me, it appears to just be an error in the remote access part of the settings. It claims " Not available outside your network" but I can playback on mobile data without using a relay. So clearly I do have remote access.

we can always just blame it on Solar Flares…or the little guy that lives in network equipment that blows blue smoke out of his ears when he gets mad…def one of those two options.

“without using a relay” !!!

same here but i think its drops when were not looking then user sens a unavailable pic lol

too funny

This isn’t the case for me. My phone on mobile right now is saying there is no connection to plex… Interestingly plexamp worked ok on my hour drive home from work. Additionally at this point there is a family member that I would be 85% certain they would be streaming something right now. At best I feel like access is spotty… though it might also be insecure fallback that works for some (I have it disabled IIRC).

huh… actually, disregard this message entirely. It seems that when I was trying to correct the issue prior to reporting here I typo’d something in my firewall… I fixed that and now my server says it’s accessible from outside again

@ChuckPa This kind of makes me wonder about what I said a few posts up… during the hour or so that I had the typo in my config could that have been a long enough “cool down” time that plex started allowing me to connect again. Maybe whatever the problem was resolved it’s self and what we’re seeing right now is just plex dropping packets from those that were hammering the server during (and because of) the issue.

Ok… one more nevermind, sorry…

After everything being ok for 5-10 mins all of a sudden my server went back to unavailable outside my network.

Also, I still can’t connect from my mobile phone data connection… it keeps telling me user switching is not available because my internet connection is having issues. Then again, it seems if I select the only user available then I can actually stream something from my server (tried something that I know I never streamed to my phone). Using Plex Web from my LAN I can switch users.

The team reports the problem is fixed.

Please check your servers

Server is saying that it’s accessible outside my network and seems ok… but it seems that user switching on my phone is still unavailable. I’ll give it a few and try again though to be sure.

Restart the phone app.

Client apps are dependent on the server being marked as Remote Access available.
Client apps update quickest during restart (fresh download from Plex.tv)

I did that and it still showed it… but it does seem to be working now. Maybe it just took a few mins to get the message across.

As of right now I’m all good. Thanks for your help!

I can confirm that it’s working as of now. Thanks! :+1:

What was the issue?

DNS problem.
