<If providing server logs please do NOT turn on verbose logging, only debug logging should be enabled>
ok the problem i have is everything was ok upto 5 days ago when others outside my network all of a sudden could not connect to my server
i got the green light saying Fully accessible outside your network
which did start going green /red after a few seconds i uninstalled norton which seems to have fixed it partly in that it stays green until i reboot then i have to reboot virgin hub 5 and it goes green again but still cant get the connection
not sure if this will help
i can type 192.168.1.188 : 32400 in the browser and it connects along with 82.32.248.159 : 23944
i also tryed manual select port and still the same
things i have treid
restore from previous back up
turned vm hub into modem mode
and brought and connected a TP-Link Archer BE550 Tri-Band BE9300 WiFi 7 Router
and its always the same result i got someone to try connect outside my network i ahve also turned wifi off and connected through 5g and we both getting the same results it says offline mode no libraries available
Check outside looking in by using https://canyouseeme.org with your port that you forwarded.
Not successful then look at your port forwarding rules on your TP-Link. Usually when changing an IPS’s modem router to modem mode is not always successful.
Some documentation for the TP to monitor incoming traffic to a ip
To check for incoming traffic on your TP-Link Archer BE550 router, you can use the built-in Traffic Statistics feature available in the router’s web interface.
Navigate to Status > Traffic Statistics to view detailed information about data traffic on various interfaces and IP addresses.
This page displays metrics such as transmit (TX) and receive (RX) rates in kilobytes per second, packet rates, and total bytes and packets transmitted or received.
For more specific monitoring, you can enable IP Statistics to track traffic for a defined IP range, allowing you to monitor data flow to and from specific devices on your network.
The statistics can be refreshed automatically or manually, and you can clear the data if needed.
Additionally, the router’s web interface includes a Traffic Monitor function that provides real-time monitoring of each port’s traffic, including traffic summary and detailed statistics.
This can help identify traffic patterns and potential issues.
ok not sure if this is the same as if click status thats it theres no log can only get system log which is not showing anything about the ports my other concern is i done a quick check using emby and everythig works and outside my network so unsure why and making me think it may be a corrupt file some where
I am experiencing exactly the same issue today. Plex working ok internally, but unable to connect via the plex app externally and other family members are unable to connect externally either via their tv’s. Showing as offline to them. Router still has port forwarding on and is working as have checked. Plex show that it is available externally. I have rebooted the router, Plex server and my NAS. No joy.
Are you using manual port forwarding, with a port forward statement in your router?
If yes:
a) if possible, please post a screenshot of the port forward rule.
b) in settings → remote access, you must check the box to manually specify public port, even if you are using the default 32400. Checking the box tells Plex you are using a manual port forward instead of UPnP.
Settings → Remote Access
If possible, please post a screenshot of Settings → Remote Access. Include the sections showing status and addresses & ports. The speed settings are not needed.
In settings → remote access, does it say “fully accessible outside your network” or “not accessible…”?
If it changes from “fully…” to “not…” after a few seconds or a couple of minutes, then remote access was never working. Plex “optimistically” says “fully accessible” when it is trying to initialize remote access. If that initialization fails (which can take a minute or two), then it switches back to “not accessible.”
If remote access initialization fails, is there any mention of “double NAT”?
What version of PMS do you have installed?
There’s some compromised versions for which Plex is blocking other users to access your server (iirc that applies to PMS 1.41.7 to 1.42.0)
I did have PlexMediaServer-1.42.2.10156-f737b826c-x86_64_DSM72 installed when the issue started today, so i upgraded to beta PlexMediaServer-1.43.0.10389-8be686aa6-x86_64_DSM72, but it has made no difference.
ok checking the box and entering 32400 it changes to Not available outside your network
cthen checking on open port check it still says sucessfull attached below is screenshot of port forward rules virgin hub has firewall turned off as does pc to make sure it was not being blocked by them i unplugged tp link hub and turned modem mode off as it made no differance to connection also pic of settings
Unless you are comfortable running beta software, suggest you run PMS 1.42.2. Version 1.43.0 has the updated transcoder and Plex is still working out the kinks. I’ve noticed nothing in the release notes regarding remote access issues. PMS 1.43.x will not be a public release until after the first of the year.
Remote Access
Ensure PMS is configured for debug server logs (settings → server_name → general + show advanced). Do not enable verbose logs.
Stop Plex
Wait one minute.
Start Plex
Wait three minutes for Plex to fully start and log the startup sequence.
Check settings → remote access to make sure it shows “fully accessible…”
Thanks for the screenshots. Notice there is no public port number on the Plex remote access settings page. This means the router had not yet responded to the UPnP request from Plex to negotiate a port number.
The Plex server is now connected directly to the Virgin Media hub, correct?
In Windows Settings → Network & Internet, make sure the network port is configured as a Private Network. If it is Public, click on Properties and change it to Private.
Ensure Plex is configured for debug, not verbose, server logs. Settings → server_name → General + Show Advanced.
In Settings → Remote Access, check the box to use an external port and set the port number to 32400 (to match the port forward statement in the router).
Reboot the PC, login & make sure Plex starts.
Wait for Plex to fully start.
Check Settings → Remote Access. If it shows Not Available, try to enable remote access. If it then shows Available, wait two to three minutes to make sure it stays that way.
After waiting, if Remote Access shows unavailable, pull the log files and post the zip file to the thread.
If it still shows available, then try to access Plex remotely using your phone on the mobile network, etc.
ok i downgraded back to non beta i enabled port as asked and have attached logs still cant get outside excess open port says fine all green entered port manually as said 32400 stays green thanks for all your help
