I recently copied a Plex Server onto a new QNAP NAS and am using both in different locations on different networks.
My research yielded this solution for a Windows install.
What are the equivalent steps for a QNAP NAS?

Once you have copied everything under Library into position under /share/CACHEDEV1_DATA/.qpkg/PlexMediaServer/Library,
- Delete Preferences.xml
- Start PMS
- Open http://ip.addr.of.qnap:32400/web (you must be local to do this)
- Make certain you don’t have a “Friendly Name” collision as you set it up.
- You will be greeted by the Setup Wizard which will take you through all the familiar steps.
The remote server must be setup using a SSH tunnel

Install this:
Then when accessing the newly created share named Plex go into Library and edit the file named Preferences.xml
Above file is the eq. of the registry on Windows
