I can’t find the plex library anymore after upgrading to dsm 7. I have tried to adjust permissions but nothing seems to work. I want to do a backup of the library folders so any help would be greatly appreciated.
Which version of PMS do you currently have installed ?

4.68.0

This shows the version,. You’re showing me the Plex/Web version.
It should be 1.2x.x-something
1.21.0.3744. Sorry.
Thank you.
That’s what I expected you to respond with but wanted to be 100% certain.
That’s the beta (Package Store) version. It’s not fully compatible with DSM 7 now that DSM 7 is final release.
If you would please go to https://plex.tv/downloads,
-
Download and install the version for your machine
-
Give it time to complete the install (it will be moving files around again but there won’t be any permission issues)
-
When it completes, you’ll have a “PlexMediaServer” shared folder which you can point HyperBackup or other backup tool(s) at to make you backup
The details of what I changed after DSM 7.0-41890 became the final version are here:
All version since 1.24.2.4973 will be this way. I have no plans of making any structural changes for the remainder of DSM 7’s lifespan.
Once I update, can I go into file server and create a zip backup of the library folder? I have never used hyper backup or other tool so backing up the library folder.
Thank you!
You absolutely can.
I recommend:
- Stop Plex
- Open
PlexMediaServer
in FileStation - Right-Click
AppData
→Compress to AppData.zip
- When finished, Start Plex.
Sound good?
Problem fixed! Thank you.
