DVR | General Feedback & Issues

Yes - there appear to be issues with what Plex Web displays.

:+1:

Yesterday’s airings briefly moved to today on Plex Web. Both seemed to be tied to a timeslot on ITV2 today (didn’t actually record today, just airing block moved). They’ve moved back since.

Plex iOS & Web didn’t remove the play button from the Monday’s (yesterday) 2nd airing. I removed the duplicate recordings’ file from the directory, so the play button should’ve been removed like Sunday.

This show is on for 3 weeks, so can grab more logs .etc if needed.

Not sure if this was changed recently, but the EPG doesn’t have this show. https://www.radiotimes.com/tv-programme/e/kdz9ry/question-time--question-time-leaders-special-22112019---leaders-special/

I’m guessing something last minute was changed by the channel to have this air instead of what’s shown currently during that time slot.

Yes I noticed that and I have raised it with our provider. Obviously it is an Election related late amendment to the schedule

Michael McIntyre’s Big Show - Saturday 30th November 8:10PM - 001 & 101 should be S05E02. NEW tag is correctly set.

Traffic Cops finished recording around 9PM. The EPG had no series/episode numbers, but Plex correct matched it to the existing metadata on TheTVDB (S7E15). I’m guessing it did it correctly as I already had Traffic Cops (2018) in my library, not sure whether it’d would’ve done so without me fixing the series match beforehand.

Problem was, is that it started recording it again. Exactly like the I’m a Celebrity issue, so possible naming differences again.

Plex Media Server Logs_2019-11-25_22-06-59.zip (5.6 MB)

Talking about I’m a Celebrity, it hasn’t done it the past few days - but today it’s recording the same episode again right now, that just finished airing.

The above + Police Raids: Caught by Surprise - Saturday 30th November 8:05PM - 005 & 105 then 9:05PM on 044 should be S01E02 . NEW tag needs removing.

Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly - 5th December 8PM - 005 & 105 then 9PM 044. It’s in my schedule 3 times, one for each channel. Similar to Police Interceptors issue previously.

Episode is S0E1 as it’s a special, but Plex might make a metadata match without the SSEE numbers but just don’t want it recording 3 times :joy:
Metadata - Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly - Celebrity Dogs Behaving (Very) Badly for Help the Animals - TheTVDB.com

Thanks as always

It is the same issue and we are looking at ways to identify this and avoid the multiple recordings.

For any airings where it is appearing as a series in the guide data rather than an episode, we will have this multiple recordings issue. We are working on the design of solution to identify the linked SD/HD channels and also the +1 channels

Thanks for letting me know, that the team is working/designing something to avoid this!

Any idea if this issue will be fixed by the EPG provider before the airing on December 5th? Thanks :slightly_smiling_face:

Also, not sure if you’re able to suggest anything - having some issues here with poster art + bugs. Server not downloading poster art - #8 by Jakosaur

This is a major change to how the data for some of the airings is processed. We are at the stage of formulating the solution and looking into the data indicators that are available and ensuring any sokution design does not carry the risk of introducing any new issues.

I understand that, and of-course your don’t want to take any risks and introduce issues. Was more of a question of whether the EPG provider could make a change to avoid my server recording it 3 times tomorrow. Bit like how they changed Police Interceptors last time this was going to happen. More as a solution for now. :slightly_smiling_face:

TV Show Libraries’ Seasons: Show setting seems to be ignored for new shows (never seen before) recorded via DVR. For some reason, it decides not to use the library setting.

Library: Show
New DVR Show: Hide

When looking at a TV Show Library settings, this needs changing. It’s wording makes it seem like you’re editing a show, but you’re on the Library level not Show level.

The Sky at Night - 106 - 22:00 - Marked as NEW & called 11/12/16—Review of the Year.

Not sure whether this is meant to be marked as NEW. TV Guides seem to show this as Episode 9 but S2016E9 wasn’t Review of the Year. The Sky At Night - Aired Order - Season 2016 - TheTVDB.com

Also there’s been an Episode 9 this Season too so not sure whether this is a new episode :slightly_smiling_face: The Sky At Night - Aired Order - Season 2019 - TheTVDB.com

Thanks

I suspect that the “New” indicator is right but the “11/12/16” date is wrong. It is reviewing 2019 so I would expect the first airing to show a date of 8th December 2019

Could you expand on this so I can replicate and see what the issue that you are reporting is

Let me go through what you are referring to

You are referring to viewing in Plex Web a TV Shows Library and selecting “LIBRARY” from the “RECOMMENDED” / “LIBRARY” buttons
and then for first dropdown - select “Seasons”
and then for second dropdown - select “By Show”

With regards to library settings, so selecting “Edit”, then “Advanced” and then
For “Seasons” (option: Choose whether to display seasons) there are 3 options:
Show, or Hide for single-season series or Hide

I don’t understand this bit

Library: `Show`
New DVR Show: `Hide`

What do you mean by “Library” and “New DVR” ?
and the “Show” and “Hide” are the Seasons option selected ?

Is what is wrong only for recorded TV shows or for all TV shows libraries

and with a library setting of “Seasons: Hide”, what would you be expecting to happen in the LIBRARY view of → Seasons → By Show? and has this behavior changed recently?

I presume you are referring to the words “this show” ? and would need to be changed to something like: “How to sort the episodes for a show”

What’s happening is my TV Shows Library is set in Edit → Advanced, for Seasons to Show. So I’m expecting a show with only 1 season to still show the seasons available as clickable options. Rather than just showing the episodes for that one season (which is expected from Hide for single-season series in the Libraries’ Edit → Advanced, but that’s not what the library is set to).

Correct Behaviour:

Current/Incorrect Behaviour (With only one episode showing when trying to reproduce):

When a show that hasn’t ever been in my library before has finished recording, it puts it in my library as usual. But doesn’t seem to use the Library setting to show Seasons. It automatically sets it to Hide not Library Default so you have to manaully change the new shows’ settings to Library Default. Only seems to happen on DVR Shows that haven’t ever been in your library.

I’ve only seen this happen on Plex Web, so not sure whether this transfers to other platforms but just annoying when you’ve specified the library to show Seasons, even for Single Season Series.

The wording of “This Show” and the drop down text. As you’re in the Library settings, so what’s the “Library default”? Seems like the drop down should only be the bottom two options and the How to sort the episodes for this show. should be adjusted to How to sort the episodes for a TV Show, in this library.. Seems like the Episode sorting in simple terms is “copy and pasted” from the editing a TV Show screen. Obviously not a copy and paste, but things seem a bit off when in the library settings it shows Library Default. That should only be shown when editing a TV Show. :slightly_smiling_face:

Library Level:
Oldest First & Newest First. Description: How to sort the episodes for a TV Show, in this library.

TV Show Level:
Library Default, Oldest First & Newest First. Description: How to sort the episodes for this show.

Also having some issues where my Plex Server isn’t downloading Poster Art for Shows, Seasons or Individual Episodes :frowning: Server not downloading poster art - #9 by Jakosaur

23/12/2019 - ITV1 003, 103 - 9PM - Gordon, Gino and Fred: Christmas Road Trip - Three Unwise Men

Should be just Gordon, Gino and Fred's Road Trip so Plex schedules it to record for those with the series already set to record. Episode name should be Gordon, Gino and Fred: Christmas Road Trip - Three Unwise Men. Just also going by the guide in the image. Correct name on blue bar, then episode name below.

Wonder if there’s room for improvement to prevent this in the future where if the most of the name for a scheduled show is mentioned, to record it with the settings for the normal show. Would help with these specials that occur.

I do not believe we handle special episodes.
I will discuss it with our EPG team

I do not know what our provider is getting in terms of series information.

The channel guide shows
