I think I failed to report back here for a few versions since 8.7.0.20853, but they all also preserved the name “Pixel 4 XL” (perhaps obviously).
Update to 8.8.0.21074 (670840e6) preserved the name “Pixel 4 XL”.
Update to 8.8.0.21200 (c37f7b87) or another update since 8.8.0.21074 reset the name to “Intel Apollo Lake Chromebook”.
8.8.0.21200 (c37f7b87) also reset my Pixel 4 XL name too.
Update to 8.8.1.21331 (759417e7) preserved the name “Pixel 4 XL”.
Once upon a time, @jesusmc had the bandwidth to work on this with me, so I’m holding out hope that he may yet again. And meanwhile, I’m keeping the thread “alive” and maybe providing some useful diagnostic information.
